Out of comfort zone life

After the dismissal of her mom from the family, they roamed around the village tried to find the place to stay. Rose was the only living daughter of Lillian, her siblings died after birth. Rose didn’t know her father’s family and her mother was HIV positive. Rose’s mother were dismissed from the family members because they believed that she was going to bring bad lack of having children’s who die after birth and diseases in the family. Rose was raised by neighbours while her mom was searching for job to support her. “you daughter of a bitch’ one slap.” You good for nothing! “Another slap. She lost count of slaps rained down on her face (she cried and missed her mom). At the age of 7 Rose was raped by one boy of this neighbourhood family. Rose lost her virginity but the family members kept quiet and threatened her not to tell anyone even Lillian. Whenever Lillian come back from work, Rose cried and wished to tell her mom but time wasn’t good because they had no place to stay.

One day Rose tried to tell her mother but unexpectedly someone came in and warned her to dare not with facial expression.Whenever Rose done something wrong she got rape punishment or called by names. I remember the day she didn’t clean the house, Some uncle yelled at her to come for good punishment. He poured hot water to Rose's legs. He grabbed her arm. Rose was young but very clever although she didn’t get the opportunity to go to school because of her poverty condition. Living with unrelated people is hell. It was Monday Rose sited behind the house, scratched her private part and crying. Lillian was hopping to surprise her child with new doll but things turned around after seeing her child cry.  Rose what is bordering you? Lillian asked. Nothing mom Rose replied.  Lillian checked Roses private part and the tears fallen down the face.  That is when Lillian oath to rather sleep in the bush with her child than to see her being abused.  Monday evening rose packed her luggage’s and move out of the family. They slept in the sugar cane, under the guava tree.  In the midnight Lillian felt cold because her body was not well. Lillian coughed many times and lastly she said to Rose “My daughter you only live once please try to forgive, make peace. She died and rose cried for help the whole night in the bush and tried to wake her mom but Lillian was no more.  Tuesday in the morning there was a man who look after the cattle’s or shepherd around the sugar cane. He heard Rose crying for help. They called the police to report the dead body and report to the family.

The family members never wanted to help Rose even when her mother is dead. How a child of 7 years can arrange and bury the person, that wasn’t good. The family were heartless. The chiefs and councils of the village came together to solve this problem because Rose ‘family proposed to throw the dead body in the bush. The councils arranged all the burial preparations and bury Lillian’s body. After the dearth of her mother Rose continued to live around the village. She fetched firewood and water for neighbours to get food.  Rose met Priscilla who was the founder of the orphanage around the village. Priscilla took Rose and other orphans to provide better for them. At age of 9 years rose attended grade R in multiracial school. Rose became happy in life but the worse happened. When the family member need to sign up the agreement to take Rose to the abroad or overseas orphanage. Rose aunt refused to sign the agreement and she took Rose away. Priscilla was helpless.  Rose aunt had 5 children’s. Rose had to take care of these children’s while her aunt is working. Rose cooked, cleaned and washed in the house.  She attended all the house chores alone. As she was living in the shack with her aunt, Rose continued to experience poverty, rape and that raised anger. One day Rose took a hard decision to run away. Rose met a Good Samaritan. She cried while telling The Samaritan about her life story and how she left the family. It happened that the Good Samaritan experienced the family problem.  The Good Samaritan raised Rose very well and provide the good education. Although Rose was living very well but she also experienced hardship because the good Samaritans children’s who hated her with passion. Rose was dismissed from this family during her tertiary education but she never gave up. She rented the house to live by the help of Nsfas. Rose survived and worked part-time. Rose got the good record in her modules in such a way that she was pointed as a tutor. Life is unpredictable because no one new that rose was very talented in singing. On the last year she entered the singing audition and did very well.  Rose family was surprised to see Rose in TV. She managed to complete her degree and continue with Idols SA. Some people wished her a good luck but her family were jealousy.  The old friends came back in Rose life. Life became good when Rose win the Idols SA competition. Rose became popular in news and social media. In Rose family so many members were dead and she doesn’t know. Aunt was the only left member and her children’s. Rose did business management in tertiary so she opened her hotel business and others. Although life was good but Lillian always visit Rose in the dreams reminding her of peace. One day Rose went to visit her family during reconciliation day. She got the warm welcome and visited her mother grave. Rose made the ceremony for her mother and 5 siblings who died years ago. She made celebration party for all people who helped her to achieve good life.  The family united and forgave each other. Rose’s aunt assisted her to search for her father’s family.
