The dream of yesterday

Back in my day when I was much younger then I am now, kids could be kids. I use to enjoy playing outside until the street lights came on. I know one thing back in my day parents wasn't going to jail for disciplining their children. You better been hitting that door one second before that street light came on or you was in trouble. We didn't have all these cool phones, computers, or tablets. We had to use our imagination to have fun and that was the joy of childhood. Back in my day the definition of peace really meant tranquility. Now you can't even go in your own home without a argument or fight. People who was bisexual use to keep it in the close. Now our children is asking us how could something so wrong be so right. Same sex couldn't even sign a legal document together now they marrying each other. I'm not judging, im just saying back in the day it wasn't happening like that. Back in my day you could actually go to a public event and enjoy yourself. Now you have to pray even harder and hope you return home safe. I never could imagine this world turning so cold, you go outside and everyone face turns up. Back in the day you went outside and your neighbors greeted you with a cup of hot coffee, a newspaper and a warm good morning. I can't even remember when the last time I even saw a block party. Back in the day, every weekend you would smell good old BBQ roaming in the fresh air. With music going and children screaming and laughing playing in the bounce house. Now days you have to run and hide because bullets coming from every which way. Don't get me wrong back in my day it still was trouble but not as much as today trouble. So many pandemics going on you waking up in the morning to a face mask on your face. Now a common cold aint so common because if you cough one time you looked at like you killed someone all because a thing called covid-19. Back in the day, you use to be able to do research and vote for a good leader to be president. Now you don't know what to believe because everyone lying trying to get ahead. Back in the day, aint no way I was even thinking about raising a hand at my mother. These days you have children killing and beating on their parents. Back in the day when our parents told us I brought you in this world and I can take you back out. We was actually scared and believed that. Now days you tell a child that, they going to laugh in your face. All that kids fighting teachers..... Back in the day, you laugh in class at the wrong time mommy was at the school on you like white on rice, now parents laugh when they child even curse a teacher. I walked in the store the other day, as I begin to get deeper in the store I heard a child screaming. Ok screaming and crying because you can't get what you want is normal, but screaming and hitting your parents in public over a toy was a no no. I kept walking saying to myself couldn't of been my parents back in the day, because I would of been picking my teeth up off the ground. The world is so different, what im trying to say don't judge me off it, but where is the respect. Back in my day children could be children and being hot and grown caught us another whooping. Now days daddy's making they daughter watch them do things only a wife could see back then. Skipping school seems cool now, but back in the day moms was riding around. She didn't stop while you ducking her until she sneak up on you and pat you on the head. You knew your world was gone and she was about to embarrass you in front all your lil friends. Today kids get caught skipping school the first thing they tell the police is my mom already know im not in school. Help your soul because if you was back in my day, you saw your mom you knew it was about to go down. Back in the day church's was a place to go praise and worship with no fear. Now you looking behind you everytime the door open to make sure a gun not about to sound off. Now days everything is done on the computer, so at any given time a person can hit 1 button and it deletes everything. Back in the day everything was done with pen and paper so if u lose it you wrote it enough times to write it all over again. Back in the day things was so different and I guess thats why the adults back in the day is telling us the world is not getting any better. As shay ended her speech the class begin to clap and she got woken up out her sleep with her mom holding her saying, baby girl you had a bad dream this world will never be like back in the day. Shay looked up and said you can say that again shaking her head. They both got up and walked out shay room. As they departed shay went in the bathroom to freshen up. As she dashed her face with water she begin to think to herself, that dreamed ft so real. Look at us now having to wear mask and dope our self up with all these vaccines to stay alive. Look all these women coming up messing. I really never heard this back in the day. I wonder what if the kids today would of been alive back then would the world be a better place of would they act the same. She shrugged her shoulders and started brushing her teeth. Back in the day when I was a kid our parents made us brush our teeth now children waking up going sit at the table with yuck mouth she started smiling ha thats nasty she said out loud not knowing she said it or people heard her. Shay mom passed by the door whats nasty. Shay looked and say oh you heard me, shay mom gave her that duh look yes I think everyone heard it her mom responded. Oh children that walk around with stanky breathe . Tell me about it child because back in your day it wasn't no eating before brushing your teeth or putting on clothes why you think I'm hard on my grandchildren. Shay laughed well when I have kids they going to be living a back in the day life style. Children get bullied for stuff they parents allow back in the day the next mother knew dang well that parent didn't teach they kids that. You got that right shay mom said now let's go eat breakfast before your day leave for work she said turning to leave out the bathroom hold on mom on more thing shay said forming the biggest morning smile. Is my teeth clean? Shay mom said of course looking like pearls. Ok thanks shay said as they walk to the breakfast table
