Contemporary Fiction Romance

$20 - A Wrinkle in Time Trilogy (with love poems) - good - Listed 10/17/10

If you aren’t familiar with the books and this post just happened to make its way to you, take it as a sign to indulge in the all-consuming works of Madeleine L'Engle. Covers are intact. i never dog-ear my pages, so you don’t have to worry about that ;) My grandmother gifted me the set the Christmas of ‘95, and i’ve read through each book countless times. Very dear to my heart. My ex hid a few love poems in the margins, none are inappropriate (in case you were worried). They’re actually quite sweet--deserve to be appreciated by a stranger. just don’t need the reminder (and shock value) of my ex’s old love for me whenever i pick up my favorite books. Hope this isn’t tmi haha. Open to negotiation on price.

Lost Connection - mango woman in mid city Trader Joe's - listed 01/23/12

You were checking out and only bought a bag of frozen mango and Q-tips. i laughed because i thought it was a funny arrangement of groceries. you smiled. i don’t remember the color of your eyes, but you have a small freckle between your eyebrows and blonde hair that fell to your collarbones. i wanted to ask you your name, but alas... i’d love to buy you a coffee and hear about the night that needed ear cleaning and frozen mango eating.

$80 - Ninja Blender & Henckels Knife Set - good - listed 11/20/16

Moving in with my girlfriend and no longer need these. No wear and tear on the blender, i really only used it a handful of times when i thought i was entering my protein shake era #WeveAllBeenThere. Knives may need to be sharpened. The knife block has a small number of scratches (shown in photo 6). Text if interested.

$0 - Twin Size Bed Frame - like new - listed 11/25/16

If you can move it you can have it! Very sturdy bed frame. i only used it for two years or so. No scratches or physical defects. Needing to get rid of by end of the month, lease is ending.

Ghost Writer - listed 02/01/17

Are you looking for someone who can take your whispers of stories and craft them into beautiful prose printed on piles of paper you can hold? (that’s a mouthful). Well today is your lucky day. i am a young (well maybe starting to feel a bit middle aged) writer, looking to help turn your dreams of being an author into a reality. i specialize in memoir, contemporary fiction, and coming of age, but am open to any genre! if you are looking for a full length book, i charge around $3,000 - $5,000 (of course depending on length and time). If you are looking for shorter media, like blogs, essays, or short stories, i charge $150 per article. Expected turnaround time varies, for novels (around 60,000 words) i require at least three weeks. You can reach out to me via text or email. Please have subject of email Ghost Writer [project length] [your name]. i can’t wait to work with you!

$100 - 1970s Typewriter - fair - listed 08/18/19

Very lovely typewriter that makes all of the nice clicks and dings when prompted to. Ink ribbon is fairly new (3 months)--black ink only. Comes with case measuring 12x12x13. i bought this thinking i would become the modern Hemingway--spoiler alert, i did not. Found out the joy of “adult life” means there isn’t really time to hunker down in the corners of my house and type in a manner that wakes my wife up. if it was up to me, i’d keep trying but wife says i need to make “stable income,” or whatever that means ;) All jokes. Would really like to sell to someone who loves writing, i hate seeing this typewriter collect dust.

$300 - Baby Crib - new - 03/12/23

Baby crib has never been used. Need to be able to come and pick up. Price non-negotiable.

2 br 1 bth - Housing Swap Offer - Mid City New Orleans - listed 04/28/30

My wife and I own a cute 1200 sq ft cottage just outside of mid city New Orleans. We are interested in house swapping for the summer with someone in Portland Oregon, or surrounding area. (we really just want to be close to the mountains/trees/fresh air). We would prefer someone with no dogs, but it is not a deal breaker. House has nicely sized fenced in backyard with grill and patio - perfect for reading and daydreaming and (of course) BBQing. Kitchen is fully equipped for any late night cooking endeavors. Washer and dryer. Neighborhood is very quaint--my wife and I love our neighbors and we know they would love to spend some time with you too!

FOUND - LIGHT BLUE PARAKEET (mid city) - listed 12/27/32

This sweet parakeet was waiting on our porch when my wife got home from work. She was surprised when she tried to move him off of the door knob and instead he hopped right on her hand. His left leg looks slightly injured. We went and bought a small bird cage and some food. If this is your sweet birdie please contact us so we can get him back home.

$300 - Antique Wooden Rocking Chair - listed 08/30/41

So sad to have to be getting rid of this. Bought at an italian antique store while on vacation--we even spent hundreds of dollars shipping it back to New Orleans *sigh*. i thought i would use this chair for thinking and other philosophical matters while i sat in front of our cozy fireplace, but it turns out a wooden rocking chair scratches up wooden floorboards. Who knew!? Open to negotiation on price, although would still appreciate only reasonable offers.

$30 - Osprey Hiking Backpack - great - 07/09/50

2 year old Osprey backpack still in great condition (i only hiked with this one a handful of times), i’m just accumulating too many joint problems and think it's time to retire--oh the intricacies of age. One of the water bottle pockets has a small stain (shown in photo 10). Would prefer someone who can come pick up from my house. Cash preferred.

Prices vary - Local Artist Paintings - listed 06/22/63

My late wife spent her free time painting. Our attic and any empty spaces are now filled with her works. i am needing to free up some space, and could use any extra money to help finish paying off the house. Although i have photographed many of her pieces, there are still tens if not hundreds hiding throughout the house. If you are interested, you are welcome to come over to my house and look at the artworks up close. i have one cat who minds his business (most of the time) in case you are allergic or just hate cats :)

$30 - Cards Anyone? - listed 10/27/66

i have a landslide of games crashed and stuffed into a small closet. Would appreciate any help to organize it, and a possible game or two afterwards. i also have tea!

Dying forum…Just some thoughts <purplepage10> 2071-01-13

It’s pretty cold outside right now. My house feels like it's aging. The windows are harder to close. Somehow leaves sneak in and gather beneath the carpets. The dying world is seeping into my home, and I feel as though I am not life enough to keep it out. I keep ordering new books to read and placing them on my bookshelf. Last week I saw an old copy of Jane Eyre my professor gave me in college. I never ended up reading it. So today I sat down for five hours and gathered all of the books in my house I “never ended up reading.” There were over 200. New neighbors just moved in, and I’m scared of how they’re young eyes see. Growing up, there was an old man across the street from my family’s house, and it felt almost necessary to avoid the silence that weaved beneath his rotting picketed fences and overgrown lawn. So everyday I walked one foot on the sidewalk, the other on the road past his house, and felt that that was how I would avoid death. I guess it just feels funny to be on the other side of the decaying walls now.

I loved the way you approached the prompt! And the fact that as the years progress, the narrator starts posting stuff online, not only to sell them but to also find company because of loneliness. Awesome read!

I'll have to admit, I didn't catch on until the paintings, but immediate reread and got it completely. The crib, I'll tell you, was very accurate. 8/10.

Wow thank you Tasmin—and I’m so sorry you found relatability. Thank you for taking the time to read this piece, it’s actually my first one here on Reedsy so it means a lot to get to talk with other authors.
