"Don't tell anyone what we heard and what we saw." That was the last time I saw my best friend. Those were the last words she told me. She disappeared last week.
No trace of her is left. It's like she never existed. Everything that used to belong to Lyric is gone. Her home. Her business. Her bank accounts. All gone.
I feel like whoever got Lyric is coming for me next. I can't ask for help. I can't tell anyone including my family or Lyric's family that something sinister is lurking in our town.
I don't even know what I heard and saw is real. People will think I'm nuts. I will get locked in a mental hospital.
This can't be happening. This can't be real. Nothing like that exist in this town. This town is too small for anything like that to be here.
Lyric came to me because she knew I can be trusted. Me and Lyric have been best friends since the first grade. We tell each other everything even our darkest secrets.
So, when Lyric told me she saw strange men in black suits in Blossom Bay, Lyric knew she could trust me. I also knew Lyric wouldn't stop looking into who these men were until she found the truth.
Lyric was determined. Always on the look-out for the truth. Lyric is also stubborn. When she finds something she wants to know, Lyric digs her claws into finding the answers and she won't let go until the truth comes out.
I love that about Lyric but her stubbornness always gets the best of her and always gets her into trouble. That's what always annoyed me about Lyric.
I told Lyric not to investigate but that was useless. Lyric kept investigating. She sent me messages whenever she had time.
One of the messages Lyric sent me said "The men in black suits are at Canyon Rock." Canyon Rock is on the out skirts of Blossom Bay where the river meets the ocean.
Canyon Rock is a nice place to visit during the day but at night it's scary. The tide is strong, really strong. Many tourist and Blossom Bay residents have gone missing.
Many were found. While others have sadly never been found. There are no lights at Canyon Rock. Many have tried and failed to get the town council to put lights at Canyon Rock.
Lyric was determined to know why the council does not want lights in Canyon Rock. She looked and looked and looked. She found no answers. Lyric then decided to follow members of the council.
I told her to be careful. To be smart. But Lyric was always careless when it came to finding the truth. The truth was always important to Lyric.
I wish Lyric told me everything and not parts of the story. I should have known what was going on since the beginning.
Lyric knew the council knows about the men in black suits and what they were doing and still are doing at Canyon Rock.
She harassed members of the council. She was threaten by members of the council. Lyric wasn't afraid of them. She never gave up.
Blossom Bay is a quiet town. We mind our own business. We do however look out for each other. We care about our neighbors and our town. That's how Lyric felt. She wanted so badly to protect Blossom Bay.
When rumors of the strange men in black suits started popping up, we as a town were naturally curious. We asked a lot of questions.
None of our questions were answered. The council told us the men are here to help Blossom Bay. The people took their answer at face value. Lyric of course did not.
I didn't know what to think. I trusted Lyric and her judgement never let me down. I was so scared for Lyric but Lyric was a strong woman.
I helped Lyric the best way I could. I looked into the missing. I asked questions about the missing. The people didn't want to talk about it. Only a few did.
The few that did told me, the missing went to Canyon Rock at the same time, 1 am. That seemed odd because Blossom Bay residents know not to go to Canyon Rock during the night. They know better.
Tourist are warned not to go to Canyon Rock but they go anyways. The people who spoke to me told me the missing who came back had weird marks on their bodies.
The marks couldn't be explained and the people didn't want to talk about it. I'm mentioning no names because I want to protect them.
I told Lyric what I uncovered. Lyric theorized that the men in black suits has something to do with the missing. The ones who came back and the ones who didn't.
Lyric also theorized that somewhere in Canyon Rock is their base of operation and the council knows what they are doing and is actively taking part.
Whatever is going on in Blossom Bay, Lyric was determined to find out. Lyric is my best friend and by associated, I'm getting harassed and threaten. I know I'm being followed too.
I told Lyric what was happening to me. She told me to stop helping her. I told her no but she insisted. We argued. In the end I gave in.
In my heart I knew I was doing the wrong thing. In my heart I knew I was never going to see Lyric again. The men in black suits weren't here to play around.
Days went by until I heard from Lyric. That day was last Monday. Her last message to me was to keep quiet.
Ever since last Monday, I've been having nightmares I can't explain. Nightmares of people on a table with a death look on their face.
I saw people in some kind of box almost lifeless. I woke-up scared. I didn't know what to make of the nightmares. I tried to remember but the more I did the more my head hurts.
I wish Lyric was here so I can tell her about my nightmares. She could have helped me figure it out. What am I going to do now?
I miss Lyric. She gave me so much as a friend. Her determination and her love of the truth is what I admired most about Lyric.
I need to be close to her. I decide to go to our favorite place, Blossom Grove. We found this place when we were kids. We go their whenever we want to escape our lives.
Blossom Grove is a wide-open space on the east side of Blossom Bay. Me and Lyric go there to talk. To look up at the night sky. It's our special place.
I pack a lunch and head to Blossom Grove. I hop in my car and drive off. Blossom Bay seems off for a town that likes to talk.
I stop my car and ask my neighbor "What's going on?" He tells me "Two of the missing were found dead."
Oh My God! I can't believe it. He also tells me "They had strange marks on their bodies." I wave goodbye to my neighbor and drive off.
What's happening in Blossom Bay? Lyric was right. Those strange men in black suits are doing horrible things here. No one can prove it. Everyone is scared including me.
I take the road east to Blossom Grove. My heart is pounding. My hands are sweaty, I can hardly keep my eyes open. What is happening to me?
Oh My God! Bang! My body hurts. I try to open my eyes. I can't. I think I crashed my car. My head is killing me. What's that noise? Someone is close to me.
I hear voices. "Someone help me." The voices are right on top of me. "Grab her." I hear someone say. "Please help me."
"Don't talk. We are going to help you." I feel them pulling me out. "Thank you." My world goes black.
