Jherico:
It’s homecoming day! I can not wait for this week to end. Do not get me wrong, I had a blast being a part of it, but it’s one of those fun things where you love it after the fact it is over, and right now, I’m not lovin it. I woke up extra early today for the homecoming rally, which happens to be early in the morning. I’m not too worried about winning and what not because the thing is: I don’t care. Popularity is so gross in high school. I’m all for the good real relationships. My act comes next and I decide to bust out the clarinet and show some love for my instrument in my act. A little bit of Sam Smith as well, and you already know the vibes. We got some Lilo and Stitch playing. Throwing tea bags to the audience! Not the best performance, but a fun one. Time goes by after the rally and I begin heading up to the football stadium all dolled up. Today, we are wearing a simple all black tux that we found at Kohl’s. We are all fired up for the football game! Screaming and yelling for our boys on the field. The band blasting the sounds of pep music into the field. WE ARE PUMPED. Then, gunshots fire nearby and I hear people left and right screaming. I see the entire stadium flee for their life. I’m running as fast as I can out of the area and into my car when I bump into one of my friends, Kate.
Kate:
I hear my alarm go off after taking the worst 2 hours of sleep in my life. I stayed up all night making signs for tonight’s homecoming game. Oh shit! It’s homecoming day! I check my phone to see that I’m almost thirty minutes late for the first act of the homecoming rally. I got to go! I pull up to the parking lot, grabbing all of my props and costumes for the six out of 10 acts that I’m performing for. I hear Jake’s name get called and I run with my all black attire. Act after act! I performed in light shows, movie acts, dancing mermaids, and we even have some Hawaiian dances involved. I can not believe I did this. Never again! The day goes by and I’m knocked out in my ASB advisors classroom for the whole day! The bell rings and I’m off to the stadium to get set up! I pick up my friend, John, and head up to the stadium to put last night's posters up. We get set up and go to the restrooms and change into something a little bit more appropriate for the game! We have blue and yellow paint from top to bottom. I take a large sip of a Red Bull and get through the day. The games going and we are not doing that bad today! I head to the concessions to check up on my ASB advisor to see if he needs help. He doesn’t, so I’m back in the stands with the band. Then, gunshots fire nearby and I hear people left and right screaming. I see the entire stadium flee for their life. I’m looking to see if anybody needs my help to get out of here and I see Jherico in distress. I run into him and ask if he’s okay.
John:
Ugh! I have two tests today, one for AP Bio and AP Lang. Gross! I don’t understand why my two teachers have to put a test on a game night. Whatever. I get up and get ready for school. Nothing too crazy since I have to go help Kate afterschool with her posters for homecoming. Now that I’m thinking about it, what’s even the point of homecoming? We get it, you want to be popular, but at the end of the day, no one cares. Whatever. I’m off to school to fail my two tests I studied all night for. I love school! There’s a homecoming rally in the morning, which means the test is postponed to next week! I take back what I said! Homecoming rocks! I see Kate after the bell rings in the parking lot. We take her car and go to the stadium. As we walk into the stadium, I see Carson, he’s one of the football players, and some guy in all black exchanges something really suspiciously. Like too suspiciously. I try to look without making myself suspicious and I can’t really see it. I help out Kate with more posters and get ready for the game in the restrooms. We look crazy with all those paints on us! The game begins and I see Carson check his bag and he goes to his coach and leaves to the locker room. Now, A normal person wouldn’t care, but I’m not Normal so I’m going to see what’s up with him. I walk into the locker room to see Carson and the same guy from yesterday fight. Then, a group of people in all black come from the west side of the locker room and surround Carson, then someone points a gun to his head and shoots. In shock, I run out of there and never look back. I run until I can’t anymore and I see Kate and Jherico heading to the car! I run and catch up with them and ask if I could join them. We hop into the car and drive away.
Jherico:
Kate, John, and I drive away from the parking lot, but we hear someone in the stadium booth yell, “Have a nice night everyone. Next time we see some of you, you can say hi to Carson for us…. don’t make deals with the devil and his crew!”
Kate:
“Why did he say Carson’s name? Isn’t he like the sweetest kid on campus?!”
John:
“I don’t know why he said Carson’s name… we should just head out before we get ourselves in trouble.” We drive away from the stadium and I get dropped off home. I lay in bed and think about what could’ve happened that led to Carson dead. Could I have stopped it? Could I have helped him? I lay in bed till the sun comes up and still think about Carson.
Kate:
We drop off John. “Hey, can I stay at your house” said Jherico. I let him stay over and we just talk about the night and try to forget about it or get our minds of it. We still can completely understand what the message meant, but we just assume the worst and try our best to move on. We sleep till the morning sun touches our face.
