Prayer of the Mantis
Genesis 2:8-9 KNJV-
8
The LORD God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed.
9
And out of the ground the LORD God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food.”
And, man! The drugs provided were pretty damn good!
Part One- He.
Adam did not like being alone. It was tough. Eden was overgrown, and there was no help in sight. Overwhelmed, Adam named some of God’s creatures. He saw the task as a form of relaxation.
Part Two- The One Rule.
Everything was legal accept for the tree. The tree that grew in a dark corner in the forest amongst the pines. The forbidden tree with the forbidden fruit! You bite- DEATH!
Part Three- She.
She was created in the forest. She was beautiful. Perfect in every way. The forest! Oh, the forest! She thought. I want to be nowhere else! Living in God’s green garden- His forest- this was a blessing- despite the insects that would bite them everywhere- it was heaven on earth. Heaven on Earth!
Then it began to rain, and she saw it! The serpent made his glorious appearance in the tree she was not supposed to look at. Glorious! She thought. She wanted to spend her hundreds of years in the forest along with the creatures Adam had worked so hard to name, but she would not. She wanted to raise her babies in the forest where docile wolves… Was that what Adam named them? Wolves?… could coddle, and help raise them. You know- teach them the ways of the jungle. Eve planned on having many offspring. This was her dream, though she had only been alive a few days in God’s time.
“Cocaine!” Yelled the serpent. “It will make your taste buds dance! Here! Have some! You will then truly appreciate my precious fruit, young Eve. Isn’t that what the man calls you? Eve?”
Part Four- The Forbidden Fruit Has Been Eaten!
The haze from the cocaine filled Eve’s mind, and she could not resist. She ate, and she ate. She forced the food down. Delicious! Oh, delicious! She thought.
Part Five- Taste.
It tasted AMAZING! The fruit. Yum. Cocaine, and the luscious, evil fruit. Yum. Thought young Eve. This will make my man happy. Was it cranberry? Or, what did Adam name it? Grapes? Did he name them grapes? Oh my! That taste! That flavor!
Part Six- Evil.
“Go now, and hide for He is on His way. Go now!” Eve told the serpent. She now saw evil. She was bare. Naked. Embarrassed. Uncomfortable, but that taste! Oh, blessed serpent, you are one to love. Then Adam appeared, and for the first time, his sex aroused her. He was naked, yet not ashamed.
Part Seven- Bite It!
Adam did not know God took his rib to create Eve. When she showed up with the fruit, there was confusion, but he ate the fruit anyway. A fruit he had not seen before. A fruit he had not yet named. Wow! It is so delicious! He thought. Then Adam saw evil, and as the serpent smiled- God wept! Betrayal! God thought.
Part Seven- A Real, Live Bastard.
Adam was created as an adult out of dust. Perfectly formed, his first breath was the first breath ever taken on God’s latest creation- Earth. All of the animals waited in suspense for they were not allowed to breathe until Adam did, and he did!
Part Eight- As it Happened.
“Here. I rinsed this off in the rain for you. Will you bite it? You must bite it.” Then he, Adam, asked with his mouthful of delicious fruit,
“Where did you find this fruit?”
“Oh, somewhere in the pines. Out in the forest.” Young Eve replied. Then lightening struck in the storm, and God came down. The serpent hid beneath the forbidden tree leaves, but the LORD God knew exactly where he was hiding.
“Speak!” He ordered, but the serpent had lost his ability to do just that, and his feet simply vanished.
Part Nine- Exit or Die!
After being ordered to exit Eden, Eve got lost in the forest. She cried out, and a mantis appeared. Is that what he named them? Mantises? She thought. It put it’s hands together, and then, the very first “praying mantis,” prayed his very first prayer. The first prayer said on Earth. It was answered. Adam found lost Eve. The Praying Mantis led them out of Eden as God’s flaming sword fell from heaven, and landed in the archway of a golden fence God, Himself, created around Eden. For all who enter- DEATH! He thought from the sky as He watched the two new humans flee in sinful clothing that covered their now humiliated bodies. The plants, the animals, and the insects of Eden had all seen them naked. Adam and Eve were ashamed, but God granted them some skins for clothing right before He shut them out. For to this day, no one has entered Eden, and no one ever will, and the devil slithered out of Eden behind them nipping at them. Biting them. He bit at their ankles for the rest of their days on Earth. The serpent never died. He is still here slithering.
Part Ten- Guards of the Gate!
Cherubim, sweet, beautiful cherubim joined the flaming sword to guard the overgrown garden of Eden. The trees were precious there. Included were the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and the tree of life which may never be discovered. God said to Adam,
“Cursed is the ground for your sake, in toil you shall eat of it…” and smoke from it, “all of the days of your life.” Cocaine, and other weeds, shall be yours! Now, go in sin! Thought God, but He mumbled it allowed, and Eve heard Him speak from the sky. She got scared as she could tell He no longer cared for them, yet He allowed for them to live outside the gates for centuries to come.
Part Eleven- Death.
The cherubim’s on guard were ordered to grab that flaming sword, and to put all to death that dare try to enter. Death! For all who tried to enter- DEATH! As terrifying as it is, no one would ever set eyes on the trees again. The dreaded trees of Eden!
Part Twelve- Fecund Forests Spread.
Knowledge. Life. Good, and evil. The trees of life and death grew out of control. Without Adam and Eve to tend to them, they began to spread past where the sweet cherubim’s stood guard. The trees mixed, and grew beyond. God wondered if He had not hidden them well enough. The cherubim’s were the toughest of the tough. Searcher’s beware!
Part Thirteen- Out of the Gates!
On the other side out of Eden, Adam and Eve tried to resist making love, but they could not- now you exist!
Part Fourteen- We the People.
Cain, Abel, and Seth came out of Eve causing shear, raw pain. This is trauma! She thought, but the LORD God had demanded the pain as punishment.
“Pain. There must be pain.” He said. “Over the many decades that I will keep you alive- you shall be driven to have dozens of children, and with each one- PAIN!”
