From The Perspective of a KID!

Introduction
Did you know that 71% of 12-year-olds have phones? And that 91% of 14-year-olds have phones? Looks like a lot of parents jump at the chance to give their kids phones. And they’re not the only ones! The Washington Post (article by Heather Kelly) says “Your children could be ready for a smartphone or similar device anywhere from 10 to 14, or during middle school. A sixth-grader (typically 10 to 11 years old) is a good age to start discussing a phone.”
Why, Though?
An iPhone is an amazing way for me to stay in touch with you, and other people I need to reach. It’s very easy to call and text on, and it holds a charge for a long time. And when I’m old enough to text friends, you can just add them on, and I’ll be able to stay in touch better.
Communication!
Aren’t you tired of your phone dinging with notifications from my friends parents, being like, Instead, they could just text me! I’m not saying I need that now, because I know that I’m too young to have access to friends 24/7, but It will be easier later on.
I also think it would be a good idea, because you guys are divorcing. It would be WAY easier to communicate with you guys while switching houses, and stuff like that if I had a phone.
“Ten to 12 is a great range because kids are still very connected to their parents and into their parents being in their phone and in their business,” says Catherine Pearlman, a clinical social worker and author of “First Phone,” a guide for kids. Which makes a lot of sense. You don’t want to give a kid a phone too early, as you already know, but have you ever thought about what might happen if you give a kid a phone too late?
Age
If you give a kid a phone at like, 16, they’ll be a teen, and teens often start to not listen to their parents, and do things like that. They’ll be less mature than all of their friends, and end up less mature as an adult. “A tween may be more likely to listen to what their parents have to say and absorb key lessons about etiquette and safety without rolling their eyes,” Says the Washington Post. That means 10-12 is the perfect age!
iPhone VS Apple Watch
I know one of your number one reasons is “Oh, Apple Watches are better. You don’t need a phone.” But trust me. Phones are WAY better!! Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE my watch, but it’s kind of like a packaged deal, and the phone is crucial. For one, a phone is more durable. It will last a longer time, and it’s easier to use. And a watch is harder to text on, and has a smaller screen, which makes things more difficult. A phone, on the other hand, has a wide screen, so it’s super easy. On an Apple Watch, you have to draw the letters and numbers when you text, which can easily lead to typos, and confusion. A phone can also have more apps. It can take pictures, which you know I love to do, and it can write! I mean, you know me, always asking if I can write on your computer, and you have to say no a lot, because you're working. Well, I could write on a phone! It’s a quid pro quo!
Getting The Phone
Once you decide you need to get me a phone, there’s some work involved. Luckily, I’ve done the hard parts.
How Do I Get the Money?
Once my amazing letter convinces you, you’ll need to know where on Earth to get the money! A standard phone costs around $180, and I almost have that much money! I would pay for the phone myself, and be very responsible with it. And you know I would be very responsible with it.
What Kind of Phone?
A challenging part of getting a phone is finding the kind of phone. Luckily, I’ve done some hard work, and a SAMSUNG Galaxy a15 phone is a great phone! It costs $100-140, and I have that much!! Reviews say it’s great for kids, and for the parents! And we can get it right here at Walmart! “For older kids who you can rely on to keep it safe, the Galaxy A15 5G provides an above-average experience.” Says pcmag.com, “Moreover, its removable storage and comprehensive software support should keep it viable for several years.”
In conclusion, I think a phone is a great idea, and I hope you say yes!!
Sorry, I have to write it again so I can submit this!! ❤️

Hi! Sorry I had to do it twice, and I know it's not technically a story, but I use this to try to convince my parents to get me a phone, and they said no. But then my friend asked me if she could use it, and I said yes, and her parents got her a phone because of me!! Then, more friends asked, and it actually worked! I just thought that I would post this in so everybody can use it!!
