*Warning depictions of blood and a corpse read with caution*
I had everything at my mother’s castle in Lohr Germany. I had countless rooms to wander in countless servants who are at my hands and feet twenty four seven everything but true love.
My mother was far too busy to spend time with me. She was always away in foreign countries looking for a suitable prince I could marry. I didn’t want my mother to choose someone for me. I deserved to marry someone I loved, but my mother never listened. So I wasted away in my huge castle all alone.
That was until last week, my mother was holding a winter festival for everyone in Lohr. That's when I met him, Gaston.
“Is everything ready?” I asked him.
“Just give me five more minutes princess.” Gaston replied with a smile.
I noticed he had a flour mark on his left cheek. He must be a hard worker, I thought to myself.
“Here you go, princess enjoy the festival.” He said returning to his work.
“Wait before I go, may I know your name?” I asked him.
“Well if you wish, yes my name is Gaston.” He replies.
“Thank you Gaston.” I said to him, smiling.
“Elena dear, what is taking you so long?” My mother’s brooding voice echoed down the stairs.
“Nothing mother.” I said as I walked up the stairs.
For the next three days I visited Gaston and asked him to make me treats for my mother’s guests. Of course there were no guests, I just wanted to spend time with him.
“This is your third time this week. How many tea parties can the queen have princess?” He remarks a hint of sarcasm in his voice.
“Please don’t call me princess, I have a name Gaston.” I replied, offended by his remark.
“What is your name princess?” He asked.
“My name is Elena and I like you okay!” I blurted out.
I watched his eyes widen as he took a step closer to me and smiled.
“What are you doing?” I asked nervously.
“I like you too Elena but you're a princess and look at me I’m just a mere baker.” He said returning to mixing a bowl of flour and sugar.
“I don’t care.” I replied angrily.
I walked up to Gaston until I could feel his breath on my face. I stepped on my tip toes and kissed his face.
His lips tasted like flour. I smiled at myself for being so bold.
“You’ve got nerve Elena.” He said a smile creeping up on his lips.
As time passed and winter grew colder I didn’t see Gaston often but he wrote me letters. I sighed dreamily as I read his latest letter when I heard voices outside it was my mom and what looked to be a boy.
I grabbed my scarlet coat from my servant and quietly opened the heavy front door of the castle. I left a little crack open so I could hear what they were saying.
“Elena is going to love you Eric. Thank you for being a suitable prince who will provide a strong kingdom for Elena.” My mother said.
“If I may ask, what does Elena look like?” Eric asked.
“Well she is not fair at all whatsoever but I know that you will grow to love her.” My mom said, smirking.
I had enough so I pushed open the door with all my might.
“I will not marry you!” I shouted at Eric.
“Yes you will Elena what choice do you have no one else wants to you’re not beautiful I can’t believe you are my daughter you will marry prince Eric!” My mother shouts.
“Mother, I don't love prince Eric, he's not my true love.” I pleaded with her.
“True love is not real Elena, when will you learn?” My mother says sternly.
That night I sobbed myself to sleep. My mother didn’t love me, she didn’t understand me, she didn’t even care about me or my happiness, when I woke up the next morning I knew I had to see Gaston.
I rushed downstairs into the kitchen hoping he would be here. I looked for him until finally I spotted him and when I did I leaped into his arms.
“Is everything okay?” He asked me.
“No it’s not but it can be Gaston let’s run away together we’ll be free to be together without any judgment we won’t have to hide anymore.” I said hopefully.
“Elena, where will we go? We can’t run away Elena, we can't run from fate, we have to face it.” He says crushing my hopes.
“Gaston, everything will be okay because we’ll be together. I love you Gaston.” I say letting tears fall down my cheeks.
“Elena I love you too, you’re right everything will be okay because we’ll be together, meet me here at six o'clock.” He said happily.
“Okay yes I will I have to go pack but I’ll meet you here!” I exclaimed.
Before I left to pack I kissed Gaston passionately. I packed as fast as I could and waited for the perfect time when the halls were clear to sneak away into the kitchen.
When I made it to the kitchen Gaston wasn’t there. I looked frantically for him until I saw him lying in a pool of his own blood.
I let out a blood curdling scream as I rushed over to him and held his face in my hands. Tears blurred my vision as I held his lifeless body in my arms.
“I’m sorry Elena but you had to learn the hard way.” My mother said cruelly.
I flinched at her familiar voice. I could tell she didn’t regret what she did to Gaston.
“Why?!” I shouted at her.
“You will marry Eric, your wedding is tomorrow, clean yourself up Elena.” My mother threatened.
I did end up marrying prince Eric but I was never happy. I turned out to be just like my mother, heartless and cruel. Maybe you recognize me for my famous killing of Snow White.
