The room is unfamiliar. I don't know how I got here. Willow thought, as the sunlight penetrated the slits in the blinds her eyes and disrupted her sleep. She scanned the room and began to whimper, "Where am I? Shit! How did I get here?"
Glancing around the room, Willow did not recognize anything. Slowly, she peeled herself off the couch and attempted to stand. She felt like she had just gotten off of a boat, sea legs and nauseou were a new feeling to embrace.
Mentally scanning her bank of memories, Willow could not withdraw much. She decided to move the blinds and look outside. After her eyes adjusted to the blinding light, she gasped. "What the fuck! The ocean! How am I at the ocean? I was partying in LA at Insomnia, like I did almost every Saturday. Why am I here? How did I get here? Who's house is this? Obviously someone fancy." Willow was ranting aloud to herself. She began to cry, nothing made sense.
Violet must have heard her, because she came out of a room down the hall on the left, to console her. Willow did not remember Violet. Violet only had bits and pieces of last night's events as well. She reassured Willow that this was her parents house and they were safe.
"Maybe Xavier (Violet's boyfriend) and Zane (Xavier's best friend) could bring some clarity to the mystery of last night. While they sleep, let's recap what we remember." Violet said, hoping they could figure it out, so they would not have to ask the guys. "Ok," Willow said, "What do you remember?" "No, you go first, maybe it will jog my memory." Violet replied.
"I really can't remember much." Willow disclosed. "I'm so fucked! How do I end up in these freaking situations!" Violet tried to calm Willow down. "Just start with what you do remember." "Ok," Willow said, sucking her breath in, trying not to cry, Willow made an attempt.
"Ok...well it was like most Saturday nights, that there wasn't a big festival to attend. I battled traffic to get to LA, of course the closer I got to the Crenshaw exit, the more excited I got. My favorite trance DJ was spinning that night and I was supposed to meet up with some friends. I had already talked to my connect, so I knew it was going to be an amazing evening."
"Right?! I remember waiting in a line way to long for Insomnia (an underground rave club). It was dark and misty. By the time my hand was stamped, I was more than damp." Violet said. Entering the club filled with fog, lights, dancing and glow sticks, Xavier and Zane were right in tow.
"We had already dropped, so we went straight to the dance floor." Violet continued, "That's when we met up with you, busting out some crazy glow stick ninja moves." "I remember that! I remember that!" Willow exclaimed, "You guys were awesome and we were having so much fun."
"Can you remember anything else? All I can remember was good times." Violet replied, "I was overheating, so we decided to go outside. You and Xavier were so adorable macking down on the stained soggy couch in the misty rain. Then Xavier introduced me to Zane. He was so cute. It felt like an instant connection. I just remember thinking everything was good and I was feeling nothing but good vibes." Willow remarked.
"Do you have anything else? I mean, how did we get here? Where are we?" Willow questioned in a slightly panicked tone. "Oh, don't stress, this is my parents beach house. We are in Ocean Beach...kinda like San Diego." Violet said in a confident manner. "Oh, ok, ok." Willow had said briefly while trying to process what Violet had just said.
Violet exclaimed, "I have no more. We need to wake up Xavier and Zane, maybe collectively we can piece together the events of last night. " "Great idea! Where are they?" Willow asked. Violet giggled, "They are still asleep on the balcony outside."
They scrambled to their feet, their mission was to decode the tale of last night. It took about an hour for the four ravers to piece together the puzzle of last night. They each had something to contribute, but no one had the whole story.
Zane said, "Well...remember you were overheating so we went to the smoking area out back. We ran into Alex, who insisted we all do a little Special K. Feeling great, we barely made it to the couch outside. The rain felt so good."
Xavier brust out with, "Oh my God, yeah. But remember it got crazy! Beams of lights were breaking the darkness and aggressive voices were booming! Fuck! Fuck! How do you guys not remember the cops bursting in!?!"
"Right, right! Yeah, we were all trying to escape through the hole in the fence in the back, before the cops made it to the outside smoking area." Violet added, "Oh man, I remember that! Yeah cause I wanted to go to my car, but my car was parked out front by the flashing lights of the cop cars. Thank God Zane grabbed my hand and we ran down the back alley to your car. But how did we end up here?" Willow questioned.
"Uggh, too much thinking! We made it. We're safe...we're at Violet's family's place and it's time to ditch this come-down and find a new high." Zane announced. Everyone was on board. Nothing like good friends, music, ecstasy and the beach. This routine continued for six days, no one ever realized how much time had gone by, until Saturday afternoon.
"Woo-hoo! It's Saturday and Insomnia is calling my name." Willow said, overflowing with excitement. Abruptly she realized she had no idea where her car was. Everyone laughed. "Babe, it's still parked outside of Insomnia, in LA, where you left it. We'll get it tonight." That was all the answer Willow needed.
Willow said goodbye to Ocean Beach and the unfamiliar room she had woken up in on Sunday. The four of them loaded back into Xavier's Honda and were on a one-track mission for another night of fun, that would be followed by a Sunday morning mystery.
