Horror Crime Mystery

Katy’s Perspective: Hi I’m Katy Jane, I’m sixteen years old and I go to a high school. This day, in particular, has been the worst day ever! I got stuck going to a cabin with my cousins for the stupidest reason, I guess. It’s cause they’re family. Ughh.  I barely know them. First, Jessica, basically she is the rebel of the family and the worst person ever, her hair is dyed blue with black tips and she always wears a leather jacket. Second, Shawn, he is the dumbest person you will ever meet, the worst part is he’s super hot, he’s got big blue eyes, shaggy blond hair. Third, Charlie. I know. Sounds like a boy and even looks like a boy, but trust me she’s a girl, basically the smartest one in the family, she's nice but she's an insufferable know-it-all. Finally, Josh a.k.a creepy goth weirdo, I literally haven’t heard a word out of his mouth since last year. He’s a wallflower, you barely ever see him, he hides in the shadows and what doesn’t help is that he only wears black or very, very dark grey. ‘’Let’s play a board game or something’’ said Charlie. ‘’I hate this guy’’ Jessica whispered to Shawn who was seated next to her.’’ how about monopoly?’’

Shawn’s perspective: About half an hour later Josh left for no reason, I still have no idea what to do and I feel like I should ask our resident cabin bookworm, Charlie, but she’ll just shove her knowledge in my face, she’s still super nice but sometimes…” You need any help?...’’ the bookworm asked me… I shrugged, didn’t answer, and just got up to walk out with the sudden urge to go to the bathroom and as I was passing I glanced out the window and saw a deer, only he was upside down, his face was just staring at us and I don’t think he was breathing, he was nearly headless… ‘’OH MY GOSH” I was pointing at him but I couldn't...talk, but I finally got the word “Look!” out of my mouth and that's when I heard a scream. It was from Katy, I forgot she was still here, everyone else saw the body at that point and was freaking out, Charlie was even puking her guts out… Gross. Josh was standing in the doorway emotionless then he said: “We need to get out of here.” I was the first one out of the door.

Charlie’s perspective: I try every doorknob to find a room we can escape to and realize that it must be because they were locked in “In here!’’ I yelled breathless, running towards the door of the music room, where there are no windows and it usually stays unlocked all the time. Finally, we are all in the room and the door is shut. ‘’We’re safe for now’’ Katy says while panting. I looked around making sure that everyone was in the room. We're all here, well our bodies are, I think the hanging body scared Shawn’s brain away. If he ever had one. He’s sitting in a corner, with his arms around his legs, he was actually pale as a ghost. Besides that Jessica wasn't showing any panic but was trying to distract herself by coming up with a plan. The weird thing is that Josh is way too calm, he just saw a dead body, how is he not showing the slightest bit of panic. As for Katy, she was trying to come up with a plan on how to get out of the cabin, but I think there is no way out, I've read too many horror stories that I know that this “killer’’ will not just let us waltz out of here without a scratch. I’ll bet all the doors are locked and were trapped in this place. “Ok, I think we should try the doors, to see if we can get out, we should go in teams of two’’ Katy planned “B...But there are f..five of us’’ I stuttered. “Then I’ll go with Josh, you go with Shawn and Jessica are you ok going by yourself?’’ She said “Yeah, yeah whatever’’ But I'm pretty sure that's not how she's actually feeling, If you look closely the pupil in her eyes became smaller, which is proven to happen when someone is frightened. “Let’s go’’. We turned and left. Shawn whispered to me “Where do we go?”. “Let’s go to the bedroom first.” We walk in and after a few minutes, we don’t just hear our footsteps pacing, but also loud “THUD”. All I saw next was Shawn running in the wrong direction towards the music room, Gosh he can be so dumb at times. I saw the bathroom and ran towards it because it was the first place I saw that would keep me “safe”. I hid in the very back corner and sat on the toilet. It was silent for about 2 minutes and then I heard the bathroom door creak open slowly and quiet pacing footsteps were approaching the stall I was in. I held my breath and lifted my feet from the floor. The footsteps stopped for a moment but then there was scraping on the door. I then shut my eyes trying to convince myself that I had imagined it. Suddenly the door flung open and hit me in the head, I tried to stand up and run but something… or someone… was holding me down, then a cold icy hand grabbed the back of my neck, the last thing I felt was my head being buried underwater. Darkness.

Jessica’s perspective: I’m still in the music room, I’m not stupid, I'm not just gonna go on a wild goose chase when there’s a killer on the loose, at least I'm the rational around here. My thoughts were cut off by Shawn, he came running back panting. He was out of breath trying to tell me what happened but kept interrupting himself with his shaky breaths. “There was a big noise...and I just… ran,” he said after I finally got him calmed down. “And where did Charlie go?” I asked him, his eyes said it all, he left her behind. He’s such a freaking coward. Great, so now we have a killer on the loose and probably a dead bookworm. Not only was she our only resource cause she knew how horror worked but now we are also fewer people. Katy and Josh came back into the music room and Katy said “We checked the doors, they’re all locked”, “How did you guys finish so fast?” I asked her and Josh replied with “We split up”. This is suspicious.  ‘’Where’s Charlie?’’ Katy questioned. ‘’She never came back. She and Shawn ran away from the noise, he and Charlie split up. “So she’s probably dead then...’’  Katy said as she looked at Shawn with a “come on” kind of look. I nodded back at her. “But we don’t know that for sure, so we should go find her”, “Are you insane? We can’t take another chance like that!”Josh answered Katy in an angry tone. The both of them started bickering, which was very annoying. While that was happening I was trying to think of a plan and was looking up at the ceiling when I noticed the panels. “Guys! I found a way out! The paneling on the ceiling! We can crawl through the vents and try to find a way outside!”. We all started removing one of the panels so we could get out of this godforsaken place. We started climbing up one by one and obviously, Shawn went first, then Katy, me, and Goth boy in the back.

Shawn’s perspective: Geez. It smells like dirty feet and mold up here. Rats running around with the disgusting slithering bugs. I think we’re almost there when I feel and hear the panel under me breaking. “Guys…”, “Don’t you dare move!” Jessica barked back at me. But I couldn’t help myself, next thing I knew I was lying on the ground on top of pieces of the broken panel in what I thought was the girl's bathroom. I could hear all the others going back, they left me, like I left Charlie. I saw one of the stalls open and feet sticking out at the bottom, I notice the shoes, Charlie had the same ugly ones. I got up and moved closer to the stall. “Charlie?...” I’m in the stall, and I peek to see and it was Charlie, dead on the floor. Her body was lifeless, her short, red hair dripping wet, the only thing you could hear were drops of water falling to the floor. Then I hear something breathing loud in the bathroom with me. I panicked and ran out the door, down the hall, tried to bust the door open but I couldn't. I was trapped. I hear footsteps, loud footsteps following me down the hallway I ran down. I found the only unlocked door which was a place I have never been to. The library. I run in and see bookshelves and hide between them. The library doors flung open and it was clear that whoever opened them wasn’t trying to be quiet. I stuck close to the bookshelves and crawled to the other door which was at the back. It’s been quiet ever since the doors opened. “Time to die’’ a familiar voice whispered. All of a sudden I hear things crashing down, the noise is getting closer and closer, and then “BANG!” I’m being suffocated by like 10 bookcases all at once. Things are getting blurry and then I see legs appear in front of me. An unbearable weight dropped on top of me.

Josh’s perspective: We crawled back to the music room because apparently Shawn flipped and ran out so that’s just peachy. Now I’m helping Jessica get out from the ceiling until I stopped when she said “Wait… Katy isn’t here”, “You’re kidding” I replied, “No” she said. I finished helping her down. Then we hear a very loud “CRASH” that lasted about 8 seconds. Jessica’s skeptical and goes to open the door when...A knife stabbed her in the eye, the next thing I saw scarred me, her veins were popping out all I could see was red. Her blood a vivid red and to think we were gonna survive this. Jessica’s body on the floor, blood still pouring out of her eye with the metallic scent of it. I was so distracted by Jessica being, well dead, that I didn’t even notice who it was that killed her. The killer stood there with a powerful look on her face. Katy. She looked pleased, she was satisfied with her work. I started to shake. My instinct was to get as far away from her as possible, but there was nowhere to escape to. I’m trapped with a psycho killer. Then the psychopath started to speak ‘’No one ever expects for the good girl to be the killer, do they?”, I couldn’t speak, couldn’t move. I managed to get this one word out “Why?” she replied with “Why? Seriously. Those people caused me to be in pain my whole life, making me feel like less of a person each day”, “But I mean that's impossible because someone killed the deer and when I was on my walk I heard you scream in the living room and when I went back and you were still there” I argued. “I slipped out and back into the classroom, none of the others noticed, Shawn was concentrating really hard because he didn’t understand the game, Jessica was distracted on her phone and Charlie was so into the game that she didn’t see me either, or none of that and they just didn’t notice me because I’m not important to them.” her eyes and tone went down when she said the last phrase, I actually felt sorry for her for a moment. “And I’m guessing you didn’t actually split up from me to go check for a way out then” I realized, “Nope, you gave me just enough time to find Charlie and drown her in the girl's bathroom in one of the toilets, I was actually going to kill Shawn at the same time but he wasn’t with her, instead I killed him by crushing him with all the bookcases in the library since that’s where he went after he panicked. And well I don’t have to explain Jessica” she explained a wide grin on her face. ‘’I’ve always been tortured by them, never been known who I really am inside’’ I really don't think everyone wants to know that she is super crazy, but not the good kind. Slowly she started walking closer to me. Step by slow step. “Always been ignored, you know that those idiots I killed actually believed that you were the one that has been torturing them all night long. Because they were too focused on when you left the room, they never saw me slip out, they were not very observant, and neither were you. You have never experienced pain like I have, but you will suffer don’t worry about that.” She’s getting closer to me but I’m not moving, which is confusing her. “But what did I do? I certainly didn’t do what they did, I mean how could I have, I never even spoke to you or anyone for that matter” I said while trying not to panic as I could feel her getting more frustrated with my questions. She looked down for a second as if she was thinking something and then answered “Well you’re right, you didn’t cause me any pain but I can’t possibly trust you to keep all of this a secret, I mean it’s too late now because I’ve already revealed everything to you” and she took a step forward, we were now only a couple of feet apart. My heart started to race. She has gotten so close that our faces are inches apart, when she silently said to me ‘’You’re next.’’

Katy’s perspective: ‘’You’re next’’ I whispered. I let my thirst to kill rage through me as my cold icy hands grasp his neck and all I do next is tighten my grip, while I feel the life go out of him. He tried to fight me but my anger and determination made me more powerful and strong.  All the light sucked out of his eyes, his pulse slowed until it finally...stopped. I finally let go and my thirst for murder left. I look down at Josh’s lifeless body and said ‘’You brought this upon yourself if only you didn’t get in trouble. You would still be alive.’’ I walk out of the room to go unlock the doors and walked to my car. I'm about a block away when I felt something breathing down my neck, it grabbed my arm and whispered screamed in my ear ‘’YOU'RE NEXT KATY’’.

THE END
