All in A Day's Work

Gene was going to have to do better than that, I thought, looking over his writing he submitted to the school contest. His story was so simple and plain like had in it.The girl went to the store and bought an item and left and then walked further down the street met.Some people said hi went home and went to bed. I marked his paper with a B+ and went home and tried to sleep and when I went back to work at the school, Gene was anxiously awaiting to see his grade and his face fell when he saw the B+. I told him I wanted to talk to him after class. And then he met me kind of looking sheepish and I told him that he would have to add some more interesting events and more different subjects to his submission in order for it to have a chance. At winning. I knew he had a talent but I didn't know why he wasn't like using it.

The next day, Gene had a paper that he handed me and I read it that night along with some other submissions and it was astronomical. The character went from planet to planet and they had lots of. Magical adventures and I was like wow, Gene, and I gave him an A+.

The story went into the next round.In the contest and soon there were only three submissions left for the judges to consider, his being one of them.

I noticed the sky was looking kind of Gray as I went home the next night and except I looked up and noticed like these glowing orbs in the sky. One was purple, green, blue, yellow and pink. Then

I noticed some kind of Flying Machine going from orb.To orb or planet to planet.

Gene wrote about that, i thought, and I said, hm, and got in my car and drove home.

Soon all of the stories that were in his submission that happened.Were happening all around me and I was like Gene, .What did you do.

I went to the judge and asked to look at the writing. He did and I read it and sure enough. The building down the street had crumbled. Just like in his story, there were horses riding down the street, just as in the story and rabbits and deer were also in the street, even a big. Flying machine that looked like a u f o was headed this way.

Gene, I said to the whole class.Did you notice that there were things that were happening yesterday that were in your story?

Yea, what were all those horses and deer, the other kids wanted to know.

Gene just looked like and threw up his hands, he didn't know.

I told the judges that some strange occurrences were happening that were similar to his story and he won the contest.

The story was read by Gene over the loudspeaker.

There were more turbulences around the world in the next coming weeks.An earthquake, a flood and fires.

All these elements were in his story.

Gene didn't come into school for the next two weeks. His mother, when called, would just say he wasn't feeling well.

All the kids were amazed at all the stuff that was happening.

I looked at the other submissions.They were interesting too but they just didn't have the quality of making things happen around the world that Gene's did.

Soon it was on the news and everyone wanted to talk to Gene. The newscasters and all we're knocking on his door, but he wouldn't come out.

I told Gene maybe he could write another story where everything calms down.

He did.He wrote his normal story again and I said yes it may not be a winner of a contest but it is an A+ I gave him.

So the conductor cried all aboard and they all got on next to the giraffe and the elephant.

Soon they were rolling over the hills.The Great Wall of China, the wall of the Southern border of the u.S and there was no restrictions.Just a free ride, although it wasn't free.It was like five hundred dollars each.

Okay , it derailed and it fell off the planet and everyone fell down down down down down and hit a big rock at the bottom of the universe.

What do we do now Peggy?Sue cried well said her, little sister.We go salvaging for food , what else.

One more story:

There was a Prince.Who rode a horse across the great hills of ireland and he and the horse swam across the english channel to france and then they went to visit the castle with the guillotines in it and they saw a bunch of heads in boxes.

Oh we must bury the heads and they did.

So then now upon the gravestone of a bunch of heads they found and buried it says these were found in the guillotine castle.

People come visit and lay roses by the heads' grave.

Then they swam back to ireland.

One last story, an American Indian wanted to go find out what else was in the world and he started walking with his walking stick and his feathered headband and his knapsack and his.

Pouch , he wore around his neck with stones in it.

He boarded a boat with some money.He had been saving and went to china.

They all said hurrah.Look, it's a Native American and they all took him in and showed him their customs.

He was glad and lucky to get away from the chaos in america and have a little vacation where he could enjoy himself and see other new sights.
