Oh no! It's April 1st!
Novel-Writing AI Offline
[Updated: April 6, 2021]
Hello! You have stumbled across our April Fool's joke from 2021. Hopefully, you will be relieved to discover that there (currently) isn't a way for authors to automatically generate novels!
While Silicon Valley thinks we'll see computer-generated books in our lifetime, for now, we should count ourselves lucky that human creativity still rules the roost.
If you enjoyed this brief diversion from reality, why not share it on social media?
Writing resources for human authors
If you are interested in writing a book the old-fashioned way, there's plenty you can do to give yourself a boost. As a starting point, here are some of our favorite free resources:
- Novel Writing 101. This free online course is written by author Ben Galley (a human, as far as we know);
- How to Master the 'Show, Don't Tell' Rule. Another free course, written by Reedsy's team of meat puppets;
- Story Structure: 7 Narrative Forms All Writer Should Know. Our new master post on the most common story structures that all non-silicon-based authors should know;
- Book Title Generator. While we don't have the tech to generate an entire novel, we do have a way to create random book titles based on your genre of choice — great for inspiration!
Happy April, everyone!
