Vyanne Samuels, a Welsh-born Jamaican, is an author, educator, and mental health advocate. She is the author of children’s books, and a poetry collection. Her work has been featured in an anthology, educational texts, translated into various languages, and as performed poetry by elementary schools. She has also published poetry and articles for adult audiences in Caribbean magazines and newspapers.
With decades of experience as a Master Teacher in international schools and as an educational consultant in Jamaica, Vyanne has specialized in literacy, writing instruction, and resource development for both teachers and students. She also served as managing editor of The Children’s Own newspaper for The Gleaner Company.
Now based in Virginia, Vyanne continues her creative work while pursuing her interests in reading, cooking, health and wellness, meditation, and the study of the brain. A lifelong learner and cultural observer, she is passionate about themes that explore both the differences and shared humanity among people. She volunteers as a navigator for families dealing with mental health challenges and is the proud mother of two adult sons and grandmother of two.
