Once upon a time there was a black and white mountain. At the bottom of the black and white mountain was a black and white meadow, filled with black and white sheep. The sheep were separated into two herds, black and white. Sometimes the herds would mingle but would always separate at the end of the day. This worked perfectly well for the sheep. They felt comfortable around sheep who looked like them. The black sheep felt they were the most beautiful with their deep rich coats. When their wool was made into a coat it was the warmest coat, pu...

“Hey Sis, it’s Christmas. You can cross me off of your wish list. Call Santa Claus and the Missus. We gon’ have the best Christmas that ever existed.” RuPaul’s Christmas Party album -the censored version- blasts through the speakers as drag queens dance around the stage. It’s the first annual family friendly Christmas Extravaganza sponsored by the LGBTQIA+ alliance. A few dollar bills float down like snowflakes through spins, kicks, hip pops, and death drops. The queens took extra care to tone it down for this show, fake boobs and padded ass...

Alice walks the hallway every day and feels a strange sense of longing. Where is everyone? She walks up to the first door in the hallway. Open, look, empty, close. The next door. Open, look, empty, close. Repeat. No one is home. The rooms are in disrepair. Windows are broken and wallpaper is peeling but Alice doesn’t feel the breeze coming in, can’t see the mold exposed by the missing wallpaper. She goes down the grand staircase, the alternating oak and black walnut stairs are broken and missing in some places. The banister is splintered, ba...

**Sensitive Content Warning* This story is about the death of a child. Themes include drunk driving, organ donation, and obviously death. I cried the whole time writing it, then I cried some more editing it. It’s truly my worst nightmare and I almost didn’t want to write it for fear of manifesting it. If you choose to read this story, thank you. If you’ve ever experienced the death of the child, words can’t express how sorry I am that you had to live through that. ** I never wanted to be a mother. That sounds bad but it’s not like I was agai...

Two shrill blasts of the trumpet sound and emergency lights on the kingdom map blink on. There is a red light near the perimeter wall indicating where the emergency signal is being sounded. My stomach sinks, not another one. We hitch the medical wagon to the strongest steed and in less than one minute we are on the trail, headed to the wall. I pull back on the reigns and give a firm “Whoa!”. The gallop comes to a halt, and I throw myself off the saddle. We’ve arrived at the wall. I can’t explain why but I hate this wall. I look up at the to...

I love IPA’s. Not only for their flavor but also for their names. Nothing makes you feel like a badass space God quite like drinking a beverage with ingredients named “Cashmere, Apollo, and Calypso”. I think the single thing I don’t love about them is the number of calories. I’m so thankful they don’t list that information on the side of the can because that would kill my Goddess vibes for sure. The old me would be shocked to know about my love of craft beer. I used to hate alcohol, but not bec...
