It was almost time. Her mind flashed back to the day she started her training. It wasn’t because she wanted to, it was because she had to. She was left with no choice if she ever wanted to leave that little town. And she did. With her whole heart. Even at the age of six she knew the world beyond there was calling to her. Six was when her love of running started too. She first felt the freedom one October day when a girl named Shannon from her class started chasing her home. She was no match for the strength of Shannon, but her instinct...

Kat felt her phone vibrate in her briefcase. For once she didn’t immediately grab for it; she uncharacteristically let it go to voicemail. She was in a daze. What the hell did Janine mean? I needed to ‘go back to my roots and reset my life if I wanted to have a life? I do have a life. Thankfully it stopped at the entrance to our cul-de-sac a block away. As I watched him sprint down the sidewalk, I saw Nina from next door working on her petunias. A little early for that isn’t it, I thought to myself glancing at my watch. 7:18 A.M. It was too early for chit chat, so I waved and smiled in her direction before sneaking back inside. I walked past Nina’s house yesterday afte...

The light breeze hit his face as his hands landed on the cool wall of the overlook which was a refreshing welcome after Noah had climbed the spiral staircase to get to the top of Notre Dame. Standing in line to venture to the top of this landmark is his routine at least once a week. It clears his mind and makes him feel more like a Parisian when he is surrounded by tourists. Although he has lived in Paris for twelve years, he still feels like 75% of him screams ‘American!’. He looks out over the city. After hundreds of trips to this sp...
