It had been twenty-four years since she’d last seen it, but the place looked exactly the same. At least, that’s what Christina thought, based on how her sister had described it. The manor was an elegant, yet greying, umber color. It had tall, fortifying green front shrubs, and inside of those shrubs was a courtyard worthy of a duke or duchess. Bronze benches decorated the edges of the inside, with meticulous designs engraved. Holding her sister’s ashes, Christina’s mouth fell open. Her fingers trembled against the cold pewter urn...

Why in the name of Saint Peter was it so cold in here? Distressed, Alexander blinked his eyes open again. What was going on? How long had his eyes been closed? Stiffly, he turned his stomach over, attempting to get up. A piercing pain in his side denied him; he was sent back on his spine, which was now throbbing from the impact. His pulse heightening by fear, he felt his body - his torso, to be specific. His fingers met no substance, or any that he could feel, rather - bringing them back up to his eyes, he say that they were thei...

They say that as you age, things start to numb to you. You lose sight of what matters and what changes. Well, fortunately, about 13 percent of the world's population lies about everything, so what you hear can be jumbled. As is my personal experience, age sharpens you. You notice the things that are important, whether it's a worm peeping out from its burrow, or a aeroplane that your second cousin didn't see, despite him being years younger than you. Rest in peace, dear Eddy (even though I hated you with a burning passion). ...

As bad as the day had been going, it really took a turn for the worse when the zombies started running. In reality, zombies had been around for decades. Mindlessly roaming the earth, waiting for someone to kill them again. Some of them actually kick it the second time around; some just regenerate. They do hunt us. It's just that nobody's worried anymore; a zombie, or cannie, as we call them sometimes, can't get into a house, they can't open car doors, and they are very slow. At least, all the cannies I've ever heard of are slow. At this ...

"Why am I here?" I asked again, although everybody seemed to not hear me, again. "Now, you'll be sleeping in this quarter," The nurse is in white. Everything is white here; even outside. It's a blizzard. I've never even seen snow before. You can see the ice glittering in the window, from the fluorescent lights. The sun isn't out; I haven't seen the sun since I had to leave Japan. Wyoming was plain, even in it's best pictures. The grass is never green; it's a stout, dull brown in the summer and pure white in the winter. The lack of seas...

“MASON!” Callie yelled from her porch, the rain splattering heavily on the sidewalk. She watched from the porch, desperate for a sign of him, but it was raining so hard she could barely see. It would be hopeless to look for him, especially in the storm. She knew he had been upset, but she thought he’d have come home by now. He’d been gone all afternoon. She walked back in the house and flopped on the couch, petting her dog, Rosco, in short, quick rubs. She wanted to call the police, but she also didn’t know when he’d be back, or if he wa...
