Retired from fulfilling military and academic careers, I feel fortunate to reflect on a life shaped by rich experiences and learning. Raised in a single-parent household of modest means, I discovered early on that the library could be a sanctuary, and reading became my lifelong passion. I owe much to the remarkable teachers who mentored me along the way. One of my high school English program contemporaries, Roger Ebert—just four years my senior—set a towering standard for us all. Traveling to 80 countries has allowed me to immerse myself in diverse cultures and languages, enriching my understanding of the world. I hope to share glimpses of these experiences with the Reedsy community through my writing. Equally, I look forward to learning from the insights and creativity of my fellow writers here.
