Augustus Remmington James, sat on the wide empty steps outside the library of the Elite Academy of Magic. As always, he was flanked by his two best friends whom he’d met on the night of their first year, four years ago - Carrie Bench and Naruhito Sato. Carrie - fiery and brown - had been taller than both of them in their first year, back when they’d been 13 years old, but at the end of their fourth year, at 17, she was now the shortest of their trio. Aside from height, she hadn't changed much. Though there was the incident with a fire gole...

Saturday, 9:30 am Yuri sat on the bench outside of the library, half shielded from the sun by the buildings wide awning. The sun blazed down on her exposed legs, causing red welts to rise up on her pale skin. She sighed as she pulled her laptop case further down her lap, shielding her knees. “Late again” she murmured to herself. A moment later and the familiar sound of flip-flops slapping against the ground sounded from around the corner. Yuri stood up, slipping her bag strap over her shoulder just as her friend jogged into sight. Cameron di...

Regen Janson awoke with a start and sat up in bed. She blinked hard, then wiped the snow from the corners of her eyes. Looking to the dusty, pink moomin alarm clock next to her bed, the same one she'd had since she was seven years old, she saw that it was 03:00 am on the dot. She lay back down on her back and stared up at the ceiling. Her pillow was wet and cold but instead of moving away she waited for the snow to fade away like it usually did. She stayed still for a minute, then two, before she sat up again. She pulled the pillow onto her ...

There was a new girl here today, at the student house next door. The house next to mine hadn't always been a student accommodation house. The middle aged owner had converted it a few years after the small branch of a famous university had opened up in our town. It was easy money. Though, or maybe as a by product of that, he hadn't done any big renovations and thus the boarding house was really just a regular house converted slightly for student use. The rooms were small and old and the insulation was shitty. I know this because my house, nex...

When I woke up, she wasn't next to me. Instead she sat cross-legged at the end of my bed, reading one of my books and eating one of my ice cream suckers. Even though when we'd both fallen asleep, she'd been naked, she'd since put on her under shirt and my briefs. The book was a well worn copy of JD Salingers' ‘The Catcher in the Rye’. As for the sucker it was the kind made up of vanilla ice cream covered in a dark chocolate shell. I'd compulsively purchased a jumbo box of the stuff during the heat of summer and then forgotten to eat them mor...
