Hi! I’m Sasha Beetle, a Russian writer – though I’d prefer to reserve the word “writer” for masters of pen and paper like Dostoevsky, Sholokhov, Pasternak, and many others too numerous to list here. I consider myself more of a storyteller, or perhaps even a fairyteller 🙂 I’ve loved books since early childhood. I started reading on my own when I was barely 5 years old. I remember when I was eight, dreaming of becoming a writer, I wrote about ten books of my own. They were small, about 10 pages each, but they were books! With pictures! Stories about alien invasions, a killer whale, Freddy Krueger’s brother, and other things I can’t remember anymore. I love creating new worlds and filling them with unique content of my own creation. Throughout my life, I’ve met thousands of people, traveled to dozens of countries, and visited hundreds of cities. The dialogues of my characters are composite portraits of people I’ve been fortunate, and sometimes unfortunate, to meet. To fulfill my childhood dream of writing a proper book, I had to pay quite a price. Before becoming a storyteller, I spent my conscious life robbing the rich and helping the poor. Of course, I considered myself the poorest of all back then, but that didn’t stop me from helping hundreds of people overcome their financial problems. In 2018, the FBI ended my Robin Hood career by arresting me in my Bulgarian penthouse on the Black Sea coast. The Department of Justice dubbed me the “king of fraud” and extradited me to the USA. After a jury found me guilty in 2021, Judge Komitee readily sentenced me to 10 years in prison for allegedly stealing $3.5 million from Google, who never even asked me to return the money. Whether this sentence was fair is for you to decide. I’m not one to give up or surrender. Together with my beloved wife Svetlana, who is also my best friend and soulmate, we decided that creativity would help me pass the time. So, after losing the jury trial and awaiting a harsh sentence (the judge could have given me 22 years), I wrote the first part of Jonny Napper in about 5 months. The very next day after I wrote the final words of the last chapter, Judge Komitee wrote his final word on my case, sentencing me to 10 years to enjoy the fresh Pennsylvania air in one of the local prisons. I write all my books by hand on paper. The callus on my middle finger from the pen will remind me of this for life. Using prison email, I type the Russian text in Latin letters and send it to my wife, who retypes it in Russian characters, translates it to English, and edits it. She also maintains this website with help from our mutual friends and responds to all letters. We haven’t seen each other for over 6 years, but every day on the phone, she tells me how much she loves and waits for me. The United States immigration system is as heartless as the prosecution, and after getting rejected for an American visa three times, we made a joint decision to stop engaging in insanity – repeating the same action hoping for a different result. But what are 6000 miles between two loving hearts? What are 10 years for them? And what really are distance and time for a feeling that can’t be measured? If you haven’t bought one of my books yet, I invite you to do so right now. Right now I invite you to dive into my fantasy world, on the other side of which there’s another world of two hearts in love with each other, who created these books for you.
