I am of African and Indigenous American heritage. I grew up in the 1960s on the South Side of Chicago and in the rural backwoods of Texas. You could say we were financially challenged, but I'd like to call it creatively motivated. I started writing prose and poetry as my way of putting a voice to all the chaos, heartbreak, and joy of those years. Later, I graduated from Lewis & Clark College with bachelor's degrees in Theater and English. As a result, I began working on stage productions in New York. Later, I moved to Oregon, where I started my career in writing and directing plays for churches and community theaters. I currently reside in Göteborg, Sweden.
