*This is a story about grief and loss* Leaning my head back, I close my eyes and bask in the sunlight. The gentle breeze caresses my skin, causing goosebumps to rise to the surface. A storm is moving in, here to wash away the last of winter and prepare the land for a healing spring. The summer was full of drought and wildfires.        A brilliant white flash cut across the dark sky, briefly lighting up the graveyard. The gravestones stood resolute against the downpour; some having weathered the storms for centuries. Sheets of rain pelted down, suffocating the grass as it drowned in a river of water. A rhythm of sopping thuds echoed through the cemetery in between the cracks of thunder. In the corner, a lone, dark figure scooped mud from the pit and tossed it out. The pile of dirt slowly grew beside the hole. Shovel crunching again...

Every single day is the same for me. I like it that way. At the crack of dawn, I wake up to my alarm, get dressed in my work clothes and drink a strong cup of coffee before heading to work. I quite enjoy the consistency of my career, even if most people find it monotonous. I even go to lunch at the exact same time every day.
