Belinda bent over double as the bat enveloped her with his enormous leathery wings. It was like suddenly being covered in a delicate, yet strong, elastic latex sheet, held firmly in place around her by a skeleton of thin bones that she could see inside the skin of the dark brown wings. I am an engineer and teacher of science and math, so this prompt really spoke to me. The form my story takes is inspired firstly by Pascal's Triangle: Pascal's Triangle is a triangular array of numbers named after the French mathematician Blaise Pascal, who studied its properties in the 17th century. Hello and thank you Reedsy for calling me an 'Author' in my header!! I never considered myself that. I am now 65 as I edit this profile in December 2023, a semi-retired, engineer and teacher, from the UK, living in Spain, with four beautiful cats and a husband. After years writing for academia and businesses I have finally started writing for me! And hope to do more and even start a Substack soon, all inspired by this great community and blog.
