My first and only love is baking. You name it, I’ve baked it. Owning my own shop complicates that love a bit, but I can’t imagine doing anything else with my life. Even if it means dealing with customers who have their own ideas about what or how I should bake, I’ll take it over some awful desk job — and I’ve worked my fair share of those.  The best and worst time of year to be in the baking business is the holidays. I keep telling myself that he’ll never remember this. He’ll never remember that we dressed him up as a skunk and walked around the house saying, “Trick-or-Treat” instead of going door-to-door in search of candy that he couldn’t eat anyway. But he already missed out on so much — going to daycare and socializing with kids his age, leaving the house to run errands together and seeing people’s smiling faces, and having a big first birthday party with all our friends and family. By the time I stepped outside, the leaves were on fire. Standing on the rickety front porch of Reiner Hall, I could already see the top of the blaze from across the road, and down the open field in the center of campus. The annual Fall Fire Fest at Linfeld School was a tradition no one knew the true origin of. Author bio

Sabrina Pfeiffer is an emerging writer and new mom. After studying English in undergrad, she embarked on a career in Marketing, but always longed to return to her writing roots. Becoming a new mom in the midst of a global pandemic inspired her to redirect her energy to pursuing her writing in the hopes that sharing her experience helps other women feel seen and heard, which she certainly did not feel upon entering motherhood.
