S.E. Beathan writes love stories that carry more than longing. Through the lens of emotionally complex relationships—romantic, parental, and chosen—her work explores the quiet cultural undercurrents that shape how we love, how we leave, and how we come back.
Influenced as much by spoken word and 19th-century social satire as by literary fiction, she builds her worlds through dialogue, contradiction, and the unsaid. Her characters don’t deliver lessons. They live them—letting readers draw their own conclusions.
Before publishing under this name, she worked across several creative disciplines, including screenwriting (Austin Film Festival semi-finalist), playwriting (Off-Broadway staged readings in New York), two decades plus experience in the Chicago theatre scene, and spoken word performance. Her earlier work in character-driven fanfiction under the name Lizerrrbeathan built a devoted following for its depth, intimacy, and emotional realism.
She writes with a belief in the unsigned artifact—and now publishes under a name that reflects that ethos. Her debut novel as S.E. Beathan, to be published in June 2025, Nothing Lost, explores themes of forgiveness, artistic collaboration, and the souls heaven-bent on trying again.
