The Johnsons were an ordinary family situated on the outskirts of Los Angeles, their modest house on a cul-de-sac where other ordinary families went about their lives. Collectively, the neighborhood was a congealed heap of mediocrity; there were no vibrant colors or substantial contrasts, just a bunch of fading houses blending in with the dying grass, asphalt, and concrete.
