She was a runner. Ever since she could remember. Running barefoot everywhere. in High School she did tracks but then stopped for a while. A spin of depressions and lousy affairs. A spiral down the drain. It was many years later, now in her mid-twenties, that she met her companion. A safety nest. Her lover encouraged always supportive, helping her to get away from the booze and the drugs and get back on her feet. Starting slowly with long walks in the park. Rain or shine. Walk a bit, walk more. Fresh air in the lungs. Enjoying the outside, pe...
They asked him to provide an item for the time capsule. He looked at the crowd around. Some had baseballs signed by a big guy or another when they attended a game as a youngster. A lady carried the pompoms she used when a cheerleader at her high school. Another fellow was proud to display a single stamp worth, so he said, well over 50,000 dollars. He woke up on a parc bench. Totally in a daze. Hair disheveled, tie askew. Tie? He never wears a tie. And he always takes utmost care of his person. High maintenance guy. To the hairdresser every week, as his boyfriend would testify. He could not comprehend the headache or what he was doing on that bench considering that he did not drink nor did he touch drugs. Or maybe. There was this meeting at Margo's mansion. A big affair, lots of top notch lawyers and business people. He could not go home the way he was. His boyfriend soon to be husband w...
It was a silly document left in a tiny envelope. Left in his mother's desk, a document he found years later as he was rummaging through the attic. She had gone to soothsayers, palm readers. All to no avail. His carer told him also of the time when she became rather desparate and she'd gone to Japan specifically for readings of leaves at the bottom of a tea cup.All foretold of a beautiful child. A male of course, an only child to carry the family name. Nice promises, but not easy for her to achieve as she was a childless young widow. Her husba...
