Mark’s hand rested on his bloated intestines as he hobbled into the doctor’s office. He took the clipboard and gingerly sat. Nerves mixed with pain as he determined what to write. He rehearsed (in his mind, of course) his word choice and hand motions. He hoped his concerns were unwarranted. He’d likely be assigned to a room that hadn’t been retrofitted yet. He drove past three other hospitals to get to County General, which was one of the last still under renovation.  He tried to ignore the professionally cheery...

Author bio

Remy Lamons is a lawyer by trade, which means he has been formally trained in one of the most purposefully boring writing styles in our culture. To counteract the effects of all the contract provisions, he has begun writing increasingly silly stories. He has much to learn and many bad habits to break (he is still trying to determine whether his overuse of parentheticals is one). But it's all worth in when a friend reads his work and says, "Hmm. Yeah that's, that's definitely a short story alright." The battle between boring and whimsical rages on, mostly in Southern California where he lives and does not have a dog.
