Sweat was sliding down my temples as if I had woken up from a night terror. My heart was over-capacitated with adrenaline. I couldn’t control the nervous urge to rub my thumb across the rest of my fingers. I have been on the deep end of a pool when I didn’t know how to swim, stared down a swarm of mourning bees, and jumped out of a plane to unsuccessfully overcome my fear of heights. Somehow, all of that seems like child play when it comes to this.Normally taking someone else’s food is a senseless act. You think about it for a second and by ...

I’ve only made one promise in my entire life. As time seamlessly goes by, the day and night losing their separation, dates evoking no emergency within me, and life slowly becoming devoid of any true meaning, I continue on because for some reason my soul feels obligated to uphold this promise. Pride doesn’t dictate how I operate and shame puts no fear in my heart. So why I’m inclined to remain true to my word is beyond me and it’s bothering me that I can’t get to the bottom of it. It snowed six inches two days ago. Being that it’s the middle...

I wish somebody would’ve told me that dissociating yourself from pain will only cause more damage. Then again, I probably wouldn’t have understood. I know I wouldn’t have comprehended the concept of experiencing misery in order to value joy. Not because I was too naive, I simply didn’t have the tools to apply that logic. In fact, I wish I didn’t have the knowledge so I could continue on in my bliss of ignorance. I would trade so much to live a life unaware of trauma, to walk through the world without the cognizance of potentially not making ...

‘This was by far the most egregious conjunction of sounds and syllables that my eyes have ever observed!’ “Did you hear that Tiff? They even ended it with an exclamation mark. Do you know how upset someone has to be to purposely leave an exclamation mark?” She was fiddling with the free packets of sugar. “I wish you wouldn’t read reviews while we’re out to eat.” “Well the waiter is taking decades to bring our food, I could only sip on this free water for so long.” “Do I not exist? Am I a crocodile that can stick out its tongue?” Paul's ...

“I remember when the fragrance of cherry blossom lotion first graced my nostrils. The perfect silhouette appears to be levitating before me. I could feel a new energy shifting my cells, rising my curiosity and hypnotizing me. I was too transfixed for it to be love at first sight.” “You always told me it was my personality that captured your heart.” “It was.” “No it wasn’t John. From what you just said it was your erotic hormones that drew you to me.” He placed his hand on the side of his head and searched the skies for a reasonable rebuttal....

“Alright…I have three questions.” “Ask them.” “Now you have to be completely honest when you answer. Don’t be around the bush or vague about anything.” “I didn’t plan on doing either.” “One…are you sane?” “Last time I checked I’m a pretty stable human being.” “I said don’t lie to me. Are you sure you haven’t been diagnosed with some type of sickness? You’re a hundred percent certain you don’t have any screws loose?” “I don’t know of a person that doesn’t have a single screw that’s a bit shaky. I don’t think that necessarily means I ha...
