I am a retired Lithographer and Computer Graphic Artist. As a small child I had always had a penchant for escaping the world around me through a powerful imagination. It was an innate defense mechanism developed in me to fend off the horrors of PTSD I experienced after a childhood trauma. When I was five, I was chewed alive by a dog on a chain. I found I could tell a whooper when I needed to if I had gotten in trouble, so when this knack for creating stories was discovered by my eighth grade English teacher, she quickly assigned me the task of writing a short story each week to be read in front of the class. In High School, I started winning grade-wide short story competitions. I soon fell victim to many of the cutest girls wiles, when asked to do their English homework assignments. I went on to major in writing at junior college. I had a poem and short story published, during my first year in the school's literary publication. I was invited to read at the school's underground poetic society. Since that time, I've only once submitted my work to one science fiction magazine. Cat Rambo was very encouraging as she explain that my story was just not appropriate for their current markets. I never entered any of my stories anywhere ever again - until now. With the time I have on my hands, I've decided to plunge back into submitting my work for the literary world's perusal. I'm entered currently, in one poetry contest and have submitted a short story here. I am greatly excited and finally at my age have overcome the fears of launching myself into the business of getting published. I don't become inspired unless I'm challenged, so Prompts is the perfect venue for my new beginnings.
