A word of caution, though: when I write "food for thought," I do not refer to fast food. I like to delve into the passions, the doubts and motives of my characters, to give them time to mature and bloom. The plot, to me, is of secondary importance, as a tool to whittle the characters down until their core appears. I do not mean that plot is unimportant, but if plot-driven stories is closer to your heart, then perhaps this is not the place for you. I also write for the love of language, a feeling best captured by Virginia Woolf when she said that language is wine upon the lips. This doesn't mean that I love meandering on in endless streams of flowery prose. But I do have a fondness for arcane and obscure vocabulary, and for finding "le mot juste" in expressing what goes on in the minds and lives of my characters. If you like plain and snappy language that keeps the plot speeding along, then I am afraid that I cannot serve you. But if you are lover of firmly character-driven stories and painstakingly painted verbal pictures - please enter my realm and I hope to give you a warm welcome.
