“I think they’re all idiots. We don’t have to do this you know.” Lola Sypes huddled closer to the boy next to her, trying to protect herself from the darkness and cold of the October night. “I know we don’t have to, but I don’t want everyone to think we’re scaredy cats.” Eric knew that his friends would be impressed when he returned to them tomorrow morning, after spending the night in the graveyard. Suitcase in hand, you head to the station. Your throat is tight and you don't feel that you can say a single word without your tears spilling over. In only minutes, you will be on your way out of town. You have been avoiding the inevitable, but your departure has been withheld far too long. Life has been getting more dangerous in the city with the fear of an invasion of foreign officers lingering in everybody's thoughts. Your parents have finally thought it best to send you to your grandmother. They had previously thought it best to keep you...

I open the door to the office I'm all too familiar with, and see...

Zena curls up in her little doggy bed and kicks out her legs as if running. Zena is running, in her dreams. She is racing through the lush green forest chasing after rabbits and squirrels. She spots a squirrel hiding in a bush near her and she abruptly changes directions. She lets out a joyous bark and leaps through the air. Zena falls back to the ground and trips over a tree root, landing on her nose. This sends her popping up out of her dog bed rubbing tenderly at her nose. Zena sighs as she realizes her joyous freedom was merely a dream. ...
