She traps the little bird inside her fist. The soft, round edges of the wooden bird token brush against the cold sweat coating Nadia’s palms. It is a souvenir she brought from home before the semester started. She bought it for herself, but soon, it will belong to someone else. She holds her fist close to her chest and stares at the full moon outside her window. Her short breaths become rhythmic, mechanic, mimicking the faint blow of the vent above her head. Author bio

Post-graduation life has officially started for me, and I have decided to make writing my main priority. The English language had always been a challenge for me, as I grew up speaking Spanish as my first language. I can still recall crying to myself as a little kid during a lesson on past tenses in English grammar. I must be a masochist, for after a series of unexpected turns in my life I decided to major in English Literature (and even graduated with honors!). Certainly a love-hate relationship, perhaps even an enemies to lovers story. I have left my Reedsy account idle for almost five years, feeling like I was not smart or skilled enough to show my writing to the world. Well, I have nothing left to lose, and I have to combat post-grad depression in some way or another. I am currently working as a freelance writer as I work on my future career plans. In my free time, I get to work on my creative writing projects and read the dusty books on my shelf. Looking forward to being more involved in the Reedsy community!
