Chicago born and Jamaican-bred, Nicole Hawkins grew up in Orlando
for most of her life, attending the first black school in Orlando, Oak
Ridge High School and graduated in the 90s. With a love books and
words since she was 6 years old, she wrote a storybook before she
could ride a bike!
Her love for writing expanded into entertainment, so she
became a double major at the University of Central Florida in Mass Communications (Radio, TV, Film &
Theater) and English Literature, while paying her way through
college. After coming 2nd place in a theatrical directing class at Valencia College, she
knew media and content development would be her path. Her internship life took off writing for
the NFL, talking on the air at 102Jamz and editing for FOX35 in
television production and promotions, as well as crew work for local
churches and events for 10 years.
For the next 10 years, Hawkins also worked on personal
projects, professional scriptwriting, learning to direct,
produce, edit on independent projects as well. While being
a public school teacher, her last drama show was hailed
“the best show the school’s ever had”. After teaching
English Literature and Drama for 15 years, she left to
produce podcasting projects, instructional design and more. She now lives in Atlanta, GA working and sharpening her writing and production talents.
