They say that the eyes are the windows to the soul. I for one was never big on windows. All my life I have stared out a window; wether it was at home on a rainy day, at school, or work. All a window ever did for me was being a reminder that I was stuck somewhere I didn’t want to be. Right now I’m outside sitting at a table of a restaurant that me and my soon to be ex love to eat. I’m looking through the window and all the people sitting, eating their food, having conversations; yet here I am once again being reminded of a place I don...

I look at the calendar, I check my phone, then I turn on the tv, and finally I check my watch. It all tells me the same thing, then I look outside and the sky is there, the trees, houses, neighbors, everything is the same. Then I ask myself what day is it again? My phone buzzes and I look down. The screen displays brightly, Monday March 8th. I stare at the illuminated screen a little bit longer, as if I may be being lied to. Cause yesterday was just like this, so was the previous day, and before I know it; I’ve forgotten again. Then again wh...

First thing first, as a well experience dater, I have learned a few things; one being just each day, even if you have been on many dates (whether with the same person or different persons) there’s always the chance of something new to happen, two being just like the weather just because it says it’ll be sunny doesn’t mean rain can’t come, so always be prepared, and three being always pack light. To further explain three this really pertains to first dates/meetings, don’t expect a lot and keep it breezy. Three was where I was at when I and my...

The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act is a United States federal law that wan enacted on November 16, 1990, by George Bush. This Act requires that any federal agencies and institutions that receive federal funding to return Native American “cultural items” to lineal descendants and culturally affiliated Indian tribes and Native Hawaiian. This Act allowed many Native peoples to be able to regain parts of their culture that at one time seemed to be lost forever. While many involved in Museums were hesitant at having to do ...

There’s a quote by Michel de Montaigne, “A man is not hurt so much by what happens, as by his own opinion of what happens.” My uncle would tell me this all the time and I always held it in high regard because of him, though it’s a quote from my grandpa that echoes in me. “It’s not the sound of the bat that gets you; it’s the ball that you can’t stop that’ll hurt you.” As long as I could remember, on a clear blue sky day I would stop and lie down to look up at the beauty of God’s creation. I would lie on the grass, porch, or where ever and ju...

It always seems to start the same way every year around this small busy town. Fall gives her last dance of trick or treat and Thanksgiving wishes, while winter steps in to take over the dance. It begins with a cooler less brisk shuffle, followed by a waltz of cold air that makes the mercury fall quickly on the thermostat. The people begin to arm themselves with thicker coats and boots that hide inside of them double pairs of socks or thermals to keep warm. Even the sun that provides all us with its warmth of rays, start leavi...

In a dream…in a dream that’s where most dreamers want to be. In the sea…in the sea, that’s where my memories need to be. Washed away…washed away, to never remind me of my previous days. In a small room located at South General Hospital on the third floor, lies a man in a bed. On the counter next to the faucet and the paper towel dispenser are some get well cards and some balloons with “Get Well Soon” written on them. The room numbered, 316 is quiet except for the beeping sound of the heart monitor, that has it’s own rhythm dance going on. ...

Tonya is lying on her couch; snuggle up in her favorite blanket, and watching one of her favorite holiday movies. In her one bedroom apartment its smells like Christmas time all through the small, but cozy apartment. The scent of her seasonal candle, “Hint of Christmas” burning the holly jolly in the room as her little Christmas tree stands illuminating by the window of the fire escape. Lying on the couch with the sound of “Roman Holiday” and the crunching sound of popcorn to mouth, Tonya’s night is all set. A large knock on the door...
