Poor fear-stricken Alec froze, his hands gripped tightly around the wooden sticks. His pulsing heartbeat reverberated from his palms throughout his body. The idea of leaving his home seemed a little absurd for a little boy but what reassured him was the fact that his family's safety would be guaranteed. He was entrusted with an important responsibility which his parents will never approve of. How could they? It would mean they would have to send their 12-year-old boy out into the world. They threw a fit when Alec had informed them that he wa...

Come. Find. Me. If. You. Are. Lost. Those were the words at the back of this…very poorly maintained photograph. Although, it had a pretty view of a ballroom at the front. Gouging her memories for that seemingly familiar place, Amanda traced it down to the Gildroy Mansion that used to host these massive parties, an ancestral residence of the Gildroy family back in the 1800s. The Gildroys were an amusing group, who adored socializing and were always up and about doing anything and everything. Fun people. What a tragedy, though. Missing wi...

TW: death, murder Just let me sleep. Why are you guys so loud? Through half-opened eyelids, I could see the grey-bricked wall and uneven cement. A figure passed at the corner of my sight, walking behind the grilled gate that connected the walls of the small room. Heavy breaths escaped from the tiny slit of my mouth. The smell of wet soil and grass lingered through the air. My body struggled and strained to hold itself up from the ropes on the leaking ceiling. Water soaked the ropes that were digging into my wrist, burning the abrasion that h...

The wood creaked beneath their feet as they trudged down to the flat flooring. The sight of a messy rug decorated the two-step in front of them, dimly lit surroundings, and a table filled to the edge with fruits, pastries and wine, carefully placed for anyone who cared for it. A pattern of stools were spotted by the group of four located near a long wooden counter. The group approached it in unison. A little knock on the hard, polished wood sent a burly-looking man with a savage beard running to the strange group. Rather than welcoming, he g...

I plopped my head out of the waves, staring into the nothingness that is the sea, I managed to get a glimpse of light shining out from a distance. Focusing on the light, I followed its twinkling shine towards a wooden bridge protruding out from the sand, supported by planks. As I emerged from the water, I saw the source of which the light had come from. A tall, big construction with lines of red and white, the light can be seen on the very top of it, spinning around non-stop. I looked towards the sea, illuminated by the moon in the night sky...

Knock. Knock. A gentle knock was heard from Mr. Williams door into the study. “Who is there?”, Mr. Williams bellowed as he set down the reading material that was loosely placed on his hands. “Tis I, Jessica, the only maiden in this dull house, the princess of your creation, master Williams”. The lovely voice of a girl could be heard from the other side of the door. “I believe you have acquired a new upgrade, my daughter, humor. Come in”, Mr. Williams said, grabbing his mug of black coffee and settling down on his study chair. T...

“I can’t accept these. I don’t know you”Those were the words I heard the day I confessed to my crush.2 April 2017Dear Diary Journal, It’s me, Akito. I haven’t really written in you since there wasn’t actually anything to write about. I go to school, attend archery class, come home, do my homework and sleep by 10. Nothing really extraordinary about my life, really. Therefore, you might be wondering what’s the special occasion that drove me to pick you up for the first time. Well, today is the Hanami Festival. The viewing of cherry blossom...
