A former aspiring writer who used to publish stuff and was confused by people who said they'd had to "pause" their writing while raising children. Surely both things could be done! Anyway, 2 kids and 15 years later, I'm back to being an aspiring writer! By day, I'm a clinical social worker. I do community work with adults who have serious and persistent mental illnesses like schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. I also work with kids with "serious emotional disturbances", a term that should be struck from the statutes, but here we are still using it in 2023. On the side, I train law enforcement on how to intervene in mental health crises more effectively. As you can imagine, my days aren't often filled with sunshine and rainbows. My stories aren't, either. If you see a happy or romantic story from me, just know that I took a huge risk there and be kind in those critiques!
