Elaine pushed her way into the supermarket, snow whipping all around her until she could hardly see her hand in front of her face. When the doors slid closed behind her everything felt strangely silent. There was no longer wind rushing by her ears, which accounted for quite a bit, but she also didn’t notice the telltale signs of people shopping.
