Another text. With a laboured sigh I placed my phone face-down on my desk, hurt coursing through my veins like poison. By the time I stepped outside, the leaves were on fire. The soft licks of heat lapping my face, melting the frost that clung to the world. I watched my neighbours, my friends and family, run from what threatened to devour them; I watched their attempts all be for nought, for the fire swallowed them up.
