A modern retelling of the fairy-tale The Shadow by Hans Christian Andersen. I knew a guy who died from choking on birthday cake at someone else’s party.  ‘Knew’ is a strong word. We weren’t much more than acquaintances. I heard the news, felt a little bit sad, and then got on with my life.
