The green cotton gown felt tight around my neck. I couldn’t stand up so pulled at it ineffectively, trying to free a space by my throat. I felt hemmed in, constricted. I looked around the room, it was sparse, clinical, utilitarian. I swung my legs back and fore as I sat on the edge of the single bed, not too fast I thought to myself, I wasn’t up to that yet. I noticed my hands either side of me, bunched up fists pushing into the blue cover on the bed. I lifted my right hand up in front of my eyes, inspected the honeycomb ...

I can’t breathe, the air has gone out of my body. I need to sit down, my knees threaten to give way, my legs are buckling under me. No, I need to run, get away. This can’t be happening. This isn’t right. Hide, I must hide, don’t let him see me. I stumble, looking down I notice the uneven paving stones, still wet from last nights rain.
