I remember how it all ended. The chasing tail of summer sits on my back as I soak in the afternoon rays by the pool deck. Honeysuckle mingled with pine-oak and grass linger in the air, and I take a lungful of woods in, my copy of Intermezzo balanced on my argan oil-slathered thighs. My promised tan is nowhere in sight.
