We were on a coach lurching back and forth, maybe twenty strangers, driving in and out of towns, threading between hedgerows, suddenly surprised by stone walls close enough to reach out and touch. God, that would have been a bloody mess if you really did, if you ignored the obvious, but it's the obvious that can lead people astray. Julian Hickman lives in an old house, in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with his wife and a wonderful border collie. People stop at their fence to ask about the unusual flowers or which country’s flag they are flying. After years spent analyzing data, he now sits at the computer writing. Besides writing or working on the house, he and his wife enjoy traveling to distant countries, preferably to an interesting neighborhood with good food and often with some of their children and grandchildren.
