The streetlamp flickered a little, and the teenage girl drew her scarf more tightly around her neck. The boy walking next to her glanced at her with friendly concern, but she was staring straight ahead at the ominous shapes of the trees that reached out their branches from the woodland that surrounded the village. The lights were turned down, and the corridors were empty. John’s steps echoed in the empty space as he slowly made his way down the corridor, stopping at every door to look through the small windows into the dark rooms, making sure the patients were in their beds. The living room smelled of tangerines. The smell was slightly on the artificial side, a little sickly. That was the first thing Richard registered as he opened the door and stepped into the low, wooden house with the overgrown garden. “Mrs. Prunes! Are you here?” he cried out. There was no answer. Something drew him to the dining room behind, and a strange sense of foreboding told him what to expect. Author bio

I enjoy writing fantasy and science fiction. I try to employ my scientific knowledge and training in making my writing more realistic and compelling. I enjoy reading and writing stories with memorable characters, sweet romantic plot-lines that may still be full of challenges, and thrillers that keep the reader guessing and on the edge of their seat, as well as fantastical worlds that get the imagination going. When not writing or editing, I enjoy long walks in nature, oil painting, reading fiction and non-fiction, landscape and wildlife photography, and watching movies. I also use my media training to earn a little income and help with livestreaming and other technical support at events. Some of my favourite authors include C.S. Lewis, Charles Dickens, Agatha Christie, Jane Austen, J.R.R. Tolkien, Ted Dekker and J.K. Rowling.
