“We’re running out of time!” Ding* Ding* “we’re running out of time!” Ding* Ding*. Yasha looked up at the other side of the door’s threshold as he climbed up the short stairs into the passenger car. There was a small cat standing on its hind legs, similar to the way a person would. It was dressed in a blue train conductor's uniform and it was covered in white fur with a few black spots, including one on its eye. “We’re running out of time!” It squeaked again. “The doors are closing! We need to stay on schedule! We...

The city of Sadansk was gloomy to begin with. But it was gloomier in the winter. The Eastern European city did not have many modern buildings. And the few low skyscrapers that were considered new were only located in the center. The rest of the skyscrapers were from a half-forgotten Soviet past, and they stuck out of the earth like old jagged teeth that should have been removed long ago. As you leave the center of the city towards the outskirts, everything becomes more dilapidated. The roads get worse and the potholes...

It was the worst piece of news I had ever received during my whole highschool career. “Congratulations. You have hereby been accepted to the United States Military Academy at West Point.” It’s weird though. Don’t most kids get happy whenever they are accepted somewhere? I think I know the reason. It’s because my dad went there. He always wanted me to go there and do everything he did. It’s been like this since day one. But I looked upon that letter with a feeling of foreboding and dread. My dad wanted me to ...

Yuri had his bags already packed and neatly organized by the door of the house. After a few seconds of silence, he looked at Akari. His had one hand nervously scratching the back of his head. "We both new this day would come, you know? We've already known for a while" he said with an attitude that almost sounded like he was going out of his way to make things sound lighthearted. Akari looked at him and then looked off to the side with one hand going behind her back and holding her other arm. "I know" she said quietly Akari continu...
Akio walked into his therapist’s office for the 52nd time that year. Dr Ishida stood up and warmly greeted his patient, who would have been seeing him for exactly a year today. Good morning, Akio! It’s nice to see y—— He was not able to finish his sentence. The young man in his mid twenties buried his right fist into Dr. Ishida’s face. The Dr, also a young man himself, being barely 32, was thrown back onto his own coffee table and collapsed onto the floor. He was clenching his nose with both hands, as it was bleedin...

I started waking up, and the first thing I remembered was that my head hurt. At lot. Everything was black except for the dim lights that were overhead. I wouldn't call them lights, in the same sense as fluoresant lights. It was more a glow, like the glow that you would get from a glow stick that one would use in the wilderness at night. They were very high up - 30 feet or more. And there was a slight vibration in the floor. I could tell that I was inside some sort of vehicle. It was massive. I tried to get up, but as I rose to ...
