“Waah, waah” the sound of crying came over the baby monitor, my eyes opened to darkness seeping through the window. I checked the time 4 o’clock in the morning, I had gotten 3 hours of sleep. I pushed myself out of bed slowly and headed to Gabby’s room, I switched the light on and went to the crib. My sweet baby girl looked up at me between cries and I lifted her carefully out of the crib. She is so small but the weight in my arm brings me peace. With her in my arms I head to the kitchen for our 3rd feeding. The bottles are already prep...

The fire alarm screamed to life as my kitchen filled up with smoke. “Not again” I ran towards the kitchen, the room had filled with smoke. I ran to the oven and opened the door quickly, smoke eveloped from the small space. I coughed as I grabbed the pan of what looked like screaming monsters, they were supposed to be cookies. I looked down from my treehouse and the rain fell hard. This would be the last time I would stand in this treehouse. Tomorrow I would be off to college and I was going to spend today in my favorite place, my safe space. I looked around and each spot was a reminder of my childhood. It had been three hours already, when would this wait end. I had wanted this all my adult life and now my dream was coming true. I sat next to my wife of four years and I could see she was nervous but excited as well. Our family gathered around us in support and we felt so loved. My mom brought me a cup of coffee and I could smell the hazelnut and vanilla coming from the hot cup. My wife sipped her iced chai latte, the spices tickled my nose. I never could understand how she never drank coffee it was a coffee shop that brou...

Alicia sat at the table looking as the world passed her by, sipping her coffee at her favorite diner. She always came to the same table, at this time and ordered the same drink. Alicia was tired of the same routine, coffee, work, sleep, coffee, work and sleep. She wanted her life to have a meaning, a purpose. She wanted to look back at her life and think at this moment she had made a difference. Jack came to the table and knocked against her glasses to draw her attention away from her thoughts. Alicia looked up and smiled at her long time fr...
