Author bio

My name is Jelleke Wierenga. My home language is Afrikaans, English is my second language, and I understand and read Dutch. I live in a small village called Napier in the Western Cape province of South Africa. I've been a journalist for many years, working at a newspaper and magazine. After resigning I became a freelancer and just about did everything to do with words: translating, editing, writing marketing copy, writing and compiling Afrikaans text books, writing my own stuff ... I've published several Afrikaans short stories in anthologies, children's books and a poetry book. I'm trying to write a full-length Afrikaans novel at the moment and in between try to write English short stories. "Jack hit the road" is my first story in English – I really battled with the tenses! My interests are writing, painting, reading (of course), gardening, being lazy and dark conspiracy theories.
