It has always been easier for me to write than talk. As a child, I was unable to speak without stumbling through every word because of an extreme speech impediment. Over the course of my first five years, medical professionals eventually treated and all but cured it. Meanwhile, I learned to read and write. Then, to avoid frustration, writing became my only form of communication until I could speak clearly.
I speak fine for the most part today, but my love for writing grew and grew and continues today. I'd still rather write than speak any day of the week. My words on paper are written in the manner in which I would say them aloud, precisely how I want to say them. But I still try to follow all the rules of good grammar, sentence structure, and all the little things that make a story an easy read.
Please feel free to comment on anything I write. Feedback is one more way to improve my writing. Even after fifty-plus years of putting my thoughts on paper or, nowadays, on screen, there is always room for improvement. I may be no Hemmingway, but I'm forever striving to be the best version of myself possible.
