It was all a dream. The fashion model. The singing competition winner. The ballet dancer on the stage. They all slowly faded as she opened her eyes to a feeble ray of sunshine on her face. Ellie could still feel the silky straps on her shoulders as she walked down the runway, could still hear the melody of her winning song, could still taste the rapturous applause as she gave a graceful bow after the ballet performance. And, of course, Trinity was there. She was always there, helping her put on makeup, adjusting her dress, encouraging her, a...
I live in a world, where only I exist. Time is nonexistent. No one else is here. Only me and a vast area of land. I think I am alone. Oh wait. There is an old lady. She seems to have bad eyesight, bad hearing, and walks with a limp in her right foot. Her hair is thin, and pale. I don’t like her. Not one bit. But maybe I should give her a chance. Every day, she follows me around. It is annoying. Irritating. I wish she would go away. But I don’t ignore her. I try to be nice to her, and try to listen, but I really don’t understand the old lady...

His eyes were blurry and unclear. His measly white hair circled around the top of his head. His skin was papery and frail. He had that permanent smile, making him look cheerful yet somber. His teeth had almost all fallen out. His left leg was broken, and he was unable to afford to go to a hospital. Unable to go back home. The last time he went home, in a nice neighborhood where all the houses looked different, he had been kicked out by the owners of the house. “Go!” the woman had yelled at the old man. “We don’t know a Jeremiah!” Jeremiah...

Today, my mom said that my younger brother and I had been “such good children”, and that we could finish the muffins in the fridge. This was a rare treat, as we usually weren’t allowed to have any sweets at all. We both shot to the fridge and looked inside. My brother was shorter, so he had to stand on tip-toes to see them. I counted two muffins– a chocolate one and a blueberry one. They both looked quite tasty. Our mouths watered at the sight of them. “Suzy, Jimmy, I’m going to the supermarket and will be back in a bit. Is there anything y...

I clean up parties for a living. You’d be surprised how much I earn after just one party. People are willing to pay a lot so they won’t have to clean it up themselves. Then, they won’t feel bad when their parties get too messy. I earn hundreds just cleaning up one party. Really, I don’t have to clean up parties anymore– I have plenty of money. But I like helping people, and cleaning things up. I also get to eat the leftover cakes. However, there’s just one thing. It’s a pretty lonely job. No one ever offers to help me clean it ...
