Whack! I completely failed to expect the broom to the face. I mean, I expected to get my ass beat, just not milliseconds after opening the door. “Ow! FUCK!” I cursed and held my nose as I toppled backwards from the small apartment I used to share. Well, still shared, technically. I hit the hallway floor and curled up sideways to protect my face as my roommate continued to whack me with a broom. “YOU NEVER EVEN TOLD ME YOU AND ACID SHADOW WERE THE SAME FUCKING PERSON!” my roommate shrieked. “So, it’s about this girl, right? She’s had a tough life, tougher than most people in her entire town have had. She grew up with a family that abused her, had to learn how to steal food just so she could eat, and was surrounded by teachers and adults who just didn’t care about her. I can finally be myself. The thought crossed my mind as I was packing up the last of my boxes. It gave me pause enough to think about that sentence a little more, as I crammed the heavy containers into the hand-me-down car I was given. Being the oldest sibling in my family, you’d have expected me to get all of the first things, first phone, first car, first job. My younger brother got all those things, my car being his old one, and my parents don’t know I have a phone. Hopefully they won’t find out until long after I’m gone from here. My sma...
