A girl moved across a landscape of dead, yellow grass, her breath creating puffs of vapor in the frigid winter air. She wore a thick jacket the color of dried blood and pants covered with white dust. I woke up slowly on February 27th, thoughts slowly assembling themselves in that nice way they do on mornings where you have no obligations.
